Legit having this issue with a friend of mine. I paid her $50 for 2 custom t-shirts 3-4 months ago. I haven't gotten the t-shirts. She bleached 2 and one didn't turn out right, she didn't put the cheetah print on the sleeve with the cricut, and she hasn't mailed me anything. I finally asked for my money back and she asked if she could just mail the one shirt and $25. That was like 3 weeks ago and a couple days later she said she was sorry but has been tight on money and that's why she hasn't mailed my money or the shirt. Mind you all I said was that my mom who lives down the street from her can mail them to me from work for no cost at all. Nothing. Now tell me how I paid you $50 for 2 bleached t-shirts with cheetah print on the sleeve FOR my business shirts WITH me and my business partner's business account and you spent all the money but didn't send me the goods and now I'm supposed to keep waiting? The defendant looks sketchy & it seems she was up to something criminal or illegal. It is not absurd for people renting a home/apartment to have questions; in fact they should ask as many questions as possible. Questions do NOT translate to harassment. If you are representing yourself as an agent/party of an agreement, then you should be prepared to answer detailed questions. Sure the wife was more patient & did more to calm down Neurotic Nancy the Defendant, however, the husband was just as justified in demanding timely & professional correspondence. They are not obligated for her to wait & drag out the lease like she’s on the run and trying to do something undercover, and dodging questions like the lease is sketchy. I don’t like how she tried to paint it out as if due diligence, demanding accountability, & expecting timeliness is a bad thing, & I didn’t like how Judge Milian was pampering the defendant as if her absurd reframing of the circumstance was valid. The defendant dragged the case on & on & tried to make herself the victim as an excuse to keep their money. Furthermore, she doesn’t get to pay their money back in increments. Once the agreement is undone, they are due their money back in full. The defendant was wrong, wrong, wrong.

If you, as a landlord, have honestly received permission to sublease your place, why are you so aggravated by questions asked by potential renters? They've also paid you a lot of money already. That sounds very shady and like she had something to hide. She's acting like she's illegally renting a place to a runaway couple that broke out of prison or something lol, like she's doing shady people a favor. Legitimate landlords welcome questions and answer them, it's simple. Especially for renters who have already put down money. And after she didn't want to answer the defendant's questions, she had the nerve to ask for MORE MONEY before she even finished drafting the lease. The defendant has very sneaky energy. It's clear that she was nervous that she was going to get caught and the plaintiffs were onto her. If I'm going to rent and live in your house, I expect you to answer every single question to the best of your ability and knowledge. Now, the lack of communication between the couple wasn't effective either. It seemed like the girlfriend was calm and handled the situation better. But, the boyfriend was kind of quick to shut everything down (even though he absolutely had the right to be skeptical). They should have discussed every move together before they made decisions. The couple definitely deserves all of their money back though. The landlord was scary cuz she knew she was wrong.

She probably needed money. So, she concocts this scheme to sub-lease an apartment, that she can't sublease, for an unbelievable monthly rate for Chicago so she can draw in as many suckers as she could find. Then she goes with this couple cause she thought she found her a young, dumb, naive black couple. But low and behold, the boyfriend was not having any of her BS.

One way to handle “too many questions” is telling the person who’s asking, “I want to answer all of your questions, but I can’t this very second. Email me a list of all your most important/pertinent questions, and I’ll get back to within the week. (Or more/less depending on how many & kind of questions)” You’re not brushing them off, you’re not overwhelmed constantly by a bunch of questions all the time, and you’re able to take a breath and answer the questions succinctly and to the best of your ability. I don’t believe for one minute that the defendant had the right to sublease. Why wouldn’t you bring your lease to court? Then she pressured them to give her more and more money ( that she obviously spent ). How are you spending money that doesn’t belong to you? I think she used their money to pay her rent because she couldn’t pay it. She might have done this to numerous people.

You'all should know. You can contact any apartment building directly and ask if they allow for subletting. Quickest way of avoiding all this.

Milian was absolutely WRONG for criticizing the husband in any way. He was every right to respectfully ask questions and request a lease after they have paid $1300 and still didn’t have a lease! Scammers don’t get nice treatment.

Renting a place is a huge deal! You all need to be on the same page. He definitely has the right to know where his money is going and when he can move in. Those are all fair questions.

What is wrong with that Defendant? I'd much rather people ask every, single question they want because then there isn't an issue later, because someone "forgets" or "misunderstands" something. Also you can absolutely tell they're 1) telling the truth, since they spoke simultaneously with the same answer several times and 2) totally in sync and in step with each other. Love litigants that know their stuff!

Seem like the defendant is "on one" and has been for a while. I understand the plaintiffs were trying to find a deal on a apartment rental, but what I've learned in my 40 years is sometimes you just gotta pay full price and go with a legit setup. Instead of always trying to cut corners and save a few bucks by getting yourself involved with shady people. Then crossing your fingers hoping nothing bad will come of it. And that applies to anything in life, not just apartment or house rentals.

She had no intentions of renting and didn’t think that they would take her to court. Most people don’t make an effort to file a case. It was a red flag when she didn’t have a lease and accepted the security deposit. I am glad this was aired on tv and KZbin because she’ll likely do this again.

Honestly when you are even thinking of leasing/looking at renting, you should be able to get all your questions answered by the landlord/property manager so that you feel comfortable with having a place to live. But this is just my opinion.

If the defendant was annoyed with the questions, she could have put off answering them until a later time. It was text. She was fortunate they didn’t move in- then they could have really got her by refusing to move out. The defendant claims she was going to return the money to them later - lies . Stole their deposit and was planning on keeping it.

I also believe that the husband did a good job. He pushed her just a little bit in my estimation and got a chance to see what's really inside of the defendant. To which means she probably would have come with her phuckery later. Because she sure came with it talking about her lawyer talking about going over this that & the 3rd for just questions? And this is gonna be a legal binding contract that involves money?🥺 No I agree with the husband he did good job sometimes we need our men to be men and then we step in and throw a bucket of water on them. I think he did a wonderful job at seeing what this woman was made of when her fruit was squeezed. Either you gonna be sour or sweet.
