I like how you explained everything in relation to your skills, the activities you do and the climate you're in. That's why I think everybody's PSK is different. The thinking behind the choices are more important than a straight list. Thanks.

Nice kit. I might add a 55 gallon (or 45 gallon) can liner. Cut open, they are 3 ft. x 4 ft., which can give overhead cover in rain, or you can make a poncho from it. In Fl., it's going to rain. I like your fire kit. I used to have 15 ways to make fire, but it was unnecessary. Stick with what you know will work, as you have. Thanks for sharing your kit.

Excellent! If I could offer a small suggestion, I’d just add a camper Victorinox swiss army knife, for a proper blade and a proper saw.

Since i was little, I have carried what is known as jean thread instead of rope. The one they use for making the jeans and making military backpacks. Super durable, if you roll three- four strings together, it can be used for temporary shelter (i have done that and it didn't break). I have replaced the sewing thread in my kit with it for backup, because it comes up to 1000 meters in small rolls and it's cheep and it is thin enough for multiple purposes. I use the middle gap for needles. Also, what i don't see in sewing kits, but anyone careing for their fingers should have - thimbles. Needle pricks your skin easily and in that situation it is the small cut that ruins your day .

Some speed hooks and a frog gig are 2 things I’d try to add to this kit. I’ve also seen a similar sized kit with a full 24” saw blade coiled up around the inside perimeter of the tin. This is a great video. Bravo.

Nice kit. Good video. Suggest adding a small drawstring bag to hold everything when you need to use the container for water boiling etc. Lots of little items to get lost. If you don't have enough room in the kit you can always put the kit in the bag. Bag can be handy in a lot of ways too. Stay well my brother

You should put a liner in that tin can so you don't have to empty all that stuff out onto the ground just so you can use the tin can. Chances are you'll want to get a fire started first and then boil water. I'd always boil water before drinking it, if I can. Noise reduction is a must, nothing more annoying than walking with someone who's rattling like a tinker. All I would add would be more first aid. I carry a lot of first aid, hopefully none of it is for me but it's always good to be in a position that you can help others. I know this is a PSK but still, doesn't hurt to carry a few extra pieces of kit.

Just found this video. Interesting. Several of those items in your kit I've never seen before. No list in the dropdown menu of what it is and where you got it. And, I've never seen them in any store. I'd love to know more about them.

You can use that bandanna for water as well. Take two cups or water holding objects and put one end into the first cup with water and the other end into the 2nd cup with nothing in it. It will wick the water and drip into the empty cup for clean water.

I built a similar kit around a BCB mess tin (the locking lid version). Personally I would bin the razor knife in favour of a Swiss Army Knife. One with a saw on it. OHT or similar for choice. Much more effective & you have room for it.

isn't it something, how common place WATER FILTERs have become a staple part of the survival kits....Back before the 70's we use to be able to boil and drink and in many places , we could drink straight from a spring fed water source....nowadays....it is rare to find such places ... I feel sad for our grandkids , they will never know that kind of freedom ever .
