IMO, on a photography focal length continuity perspective, instead of upgrading the ultra wide to 48mp they should put that sensor on the telephoto. They can cover 13mm to 24mm focal length with croping 12mp ultrawide. 24mm to 5x zoom with croping 48mp main cam and the 5x telephoto can reach longer if it was croping 48mp instead of 12mp. I guess I will need to wait till next year to replace my 13pro and that is only if they put 3x48mp on all the cam. Just like most of android phone flagship nowadays
@gamebuster800Ай бұрын
The reason they don't use a 48MP on telephoto is because the telephoto sensor is much, much smaller. Same for the ultrawide sensor - the "ultrawide" lens is much more complicated than the "normal wide" lens and the sensor is therefore usually smaller. The primary sensor is always by far the biggest and therefore you can get away with cropping into that one. That's also why the "main" camera is usually by far the best one in low light. Just take a picture in the dark using the wide, ultra wide and telephoto and you'll likely see a huge difference, no matter what phone you use.
@koobs4549Ай бұрын
@@gamebuster800Apple just put the 48mp sensor on the ultra wide camera in the iPhone 16 Pro. Personally, I don’t think any of their cameras are 48mp. It sounds like they’re counting the subdivided pixels, which is a factor of 4. So these are more realistically 12mp images & they’re stacking imitate to get to a higher quality image. If they really put a 48mp sensor in a camera that small, the image would be way too crowded & muddy to get any detail. More megapixels isn’t always better, especially the smaller the sensor is.
@gamebuster800Ай бұрын
@@koobs4549 "The 48mp sensor" used in the ultrawide might be the same megapixels, but it is still literally 5 times smaller. (1/2.6" vs 1/1.14") "I don’t think any of their cameras are 48mp. Regarding peak brightness: with the 15 Pro Max, not once have I ever wished I had more brightness, even on a bright day outside. What I do wish is that it generated less heat, and didn’t drain my battery as quickly. It’s well understood by now that Apple doesn’t compete on specs for their own sake. Seems like an odd criticism for criticism’s sake… like saying a 240Hz refresh rate is better than 120Hz, or having a 500+ DPI phone screen is better than 423 DPI. You basically confirmed what I somehow hoped I might have misunderstood the first time, so after the initial excitement for most of the new camera features the Debbie Downer effect set in. Without going any further into the details, I think anyone with an iPhone 14 Pro or older and some creative energy will want to upgrade to the new 16 series. But for me, I’ll be rather focusing on series 17 unless there’s something lukrativ coming up in the next 12 months that quantifies the costly upgrade. I seriously wish Apple would stay away from this kind of misleading marketing that ends up in a feeling of over promising and under delivering when they for example loudly announce a 4K/120p but then stay very quiet about the fact that it only works with one of the three lenses as Jordan mentions. Not the first time that something like this brings up the question in my mind if Steve Jobs would have green lit such move?

To be honest the 48 mp is just marketing bull…. Not just on apple but on the google pixle, samsung, … too. The quad pixle/ quad bayer sensors do not give you significant more detail than the base bayer sensors. They just subdivide each pixel to four pixels of the same color. So instead of one bigger pixel you have four smaller ones all from the same color. -> near to non improvement in image quality. But now they can advertise 48mp instead of 12mp. Apple held back from this stupid pixle race but unfortunately now gave in too to it. Btw for example the OM system OM-1 camera have quad bayer sensors too but dont advertise 80mp but the realistic 20mp that te sensor actually resolves. Other brands have caught up with it and even surpassed it (globally). A quick example is the latest Pixel 9 Pro XL which already comes with all the artificial intelligence of GEMINI (and owned by Google itself) and 16 GB of RAM, and another is the S24 Ultra, etc. This latest iPhone 16 Pro is a disappointment, I really expected more from Apple. Oh, but to charge high prices for little or no innovation, they are the world leaders.

Finally upgrading to iPhone 16. Very happy I don't have to size up to the Pro Max for the 5X zoom. Whoever made that decision needs a raise. Thank you for this prompt peek at the new lineup!

Haven’t followed the keynote. This scene with the two dudes and explosion behind them looks like it was made with AI.

I've been asking camera button for years... and they could do it as google did - double press power button + volume button to take a photo... but Apple didn't, instead they put stupid Siri there. Who needs that? Ok, now camera button in there, but power button is way easier to press with your thumb and snap photo with volume buttons (yeah, Iphone has them on left side), it's better than nothing but still not perfect.

You can't show "full frame equivalents" 24mm, 13mm etc while also showing their "native" F-numbers. Obviously the wide lens is not a 13mm F/2.2. You guys should know that
@the_wiki9408Ай бұрын
f stop is a ratio between aperture diameter and focal length. it is independent of sensor size. There's no other sensible way to show it.
@gamebuster800Ай бұрын
@@the_wiki9408 Yes I know what the F stop is. There absolutely is a sensible way to show it: The same as it is done for any other camera, except phones. You don't see an APS-C camera with 35mm F/1.8 lens advertised as having a 52mm F/1.8 lens, do you?

My wife got it back to the S24 Ultra.

Good to see Jordan 2.0 up and running. Sure, there are hardware changes in this phone, but a majority of this stuff is iOS.

Sony Xperia 1 IV ,V,VI did this before make 4K 120 in Cinetone ,,, make dedicated button for photography and Videography,,,,,, it's silly iphone is doing now .....
@jlwilliamsАй бұрын
Yes, it's very silly of Apple to look carefully at the marketplace, identify features people want and would find useful, and then incorporate those features into their products.

Apple sells more iPhones in a day than Sony sells Xperias in a year. What Xperia did before is irrelevant
@aeonsnarfusАй бұрын
Regardless of Sony’s excellence, if one cares about shooting video, given a choice, one does not choose Android.
@jongaoАй бұрын
4K120 has been available on Xperias since the Mark II...Apple is 4 years late to the party that we've been enjoying for a long time

Guys, get real, reviewing is reviewing not just repeting marketing messages with a different twist, take some pictures and do what a real proper analysis of the quality of the image which is at the end what a review should be all about.

This is just a preview from the launch event, the full review is coming shortly with a huge number of samples.
