How about putting something there to protect the paint like a cloth or piece of plastic. OR better yet, do it the right way and go from the trunk and pull the actuator out. The method shown here is for thieves who do not have access to the trunk and don’t care about ruining the paint on the car.

sorry my man. But thats a butcher way to do it. . Couldn't place a towel, piece of rubber? but if you get in the trunks service cover in that corner you can open it manually, at the end you didn't solve the problem, you can't leave it open.
