You can still find silver dimes and quarters. Even rolls from the bank have them. I've made videos showing how to quickly search a roll doing what you described. Basically you look down the edges looking for a monochrome or "frosted" edge. Another trick is, if you pass by a CoinStar coin machine, check the reject tray down low. Often times in the noisy racket of the machine processing the coins, people don't know stuff is going in there. It's like a little cubby hole. I've found MANY silver coins as well as random international in those trays just walking by and checking them.

we USED to destroy thouands of tons of silver each year, in the pursuit of Photography. That has not been true for at least 20 years now. There's no shortage of silver, if there ever IS, they can always re-open the silver mines that were closed for WW2, forcing the miners to move into copper for the war-effort. Without the pumps working, those shafts filled up with water and the log-shoring rotted, collapsing the shafts. HOWEVER, if the price of silver goes above $100 per oz, you can bet your butt that those mines will be re-opened.

Peter, in order to shut up the people who tell you that inflation is NOT the expansion of money supply, give the example of everyone suddenly stop working. The prices of all goods would of course rise dramatically, but this is not inflation, yet modern economists would determine this to be "inflation". And if not, how would they determine the difference between a price increase being caused by their "inflation" or other mechanisms. I am just like you firm on the definition of inflation / deflation being the volume of something, which was the original meaning of the word. Inflate a tire, inflate a balloon, inflate an argument, ... yet prices do not rise or fall but they inflate instead now? It does not make sense. If so, DJIA is also inflating then, which paints a 2x picture for the past couple years.
