Across the pond, we call this autocross. I used to do these with the Trillium BMW club in Toronto. Great fun and practice at car control. Look where you want to go! Was the school slogan. I ran an e30 325 wagon, which was an import to Canada not sold when new. You would try to find the balance of being as smooth as possible then dance on the edge a bit to rotate when necessary. A few of the Miats club guys would show us how it's done. Cheers.

Also thanks for mentioning the Marshalls, as we know~ no Marshalls no motor sport.🤗🤗 Brings back memories of an Autosolo I did in my Morgan Plus 8, did not win anything ( wrong car really ) but the bruises on my tight arm were black and painful for a week!😥

As a person who used to ski race, may I say I am jealous and want to find a course like this in the States! I have tried to describe the feeling when you pop out of turn and how I miss it.......no one who hasn't raced gets it......but I bet folks who do this might. Of course hitting the cone with a car has a different effect than hitting a gate with your ski......let's just say concussion. And in skiing it is called DNF (did not finish) when you wipe out in the course or hit/miss the gate. (PS MY JCW 2015 Roadster arrives tomorrow!)

@5:41 shows more than anything I can say about the pure adrenalin rush of Autosolo. It seems bonkers to say that it’s not possible to control your hand after just one minute of driving, but I have been competing in these Autosolos for over 5 years now & the shakes get me every time. There is no bigger or better buzz than Autosolo (even when Smug Mr. KZbin beats me)!

@@grahamwest1079 quite hard to answer that one. Really depends what you want from the car and if you’re replacing something with it. Mines a daily driver and it does that well, almost boring in a sense which is fine for me rather than being compromised you can leave all the driver aids on and have a stress free commute, or in my case long Europe trips with ease. However as soon as you hit the throttle and throw it down a twisty road it comes alive. I generally drive with everything turned off and in 30:70 sport. You can feel the rear dancing about and pushing you along (autosolo was in 50:50). In winter I doubt many cars will come close to the useable performance on a country road.
