the level 3 theory makes me iffy, aren't the light waves from the observer interfering with the waves from the electron or somehow changing the state of the environment? instead of creating a different copy, the same thing simply changed state because of interference...? of the 2 theories the level 2 seems more likely and level 1 a subset of level 2.

Felix, you're absolutely right about it not being "just passive observation" when you look at quantum particles. When you measure something, you are always interacting with it. For example, if you wanted to even "look" at an electron, you'd have to shine some light on it. Light energy which the electron would absorb and then change its behaviour. And most forms of measuring an electron would need you to interact with it, in one way or another so pretty much the mere presence of an observer or measurer can and WILL change the behaviour of a particle. this is kind of the idea that Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle is based on :)
@GnotAGnome

It never seems to get any better tbh. We don't even try to explain the reality behind it now, to the extent where professors used to recommend students to not even consider the implications and cause behind stuff and instead try to understand how it works first. Seems kinda like how I can use my computer yet don't have a bloody clue about how its software or hardware works.
@leocarbaugh5074
@leocarbaugh5074 2 жыл бұрын
@@hexrin5191 They have a point though. On our level it seems there is causality but really there might be no such thing as causality at all. If you imagine back to before the beginning of the big bang, there isn't anything before that. So did something actually CAUSE the big bang or is the big bang just the very beginning of time itself? If you believe in causality, you run into the problem, "What caused the big bang? Ok then what caused the cause of the big bang?", you then find yourself in an infinite regress. It's like that thought process, if god made everything, then what made god and what made that and what made that?
@hexrin5191
@hexrin5191 2 жыл бұрын
@@leocarbaugh5074 I actually don't believe causality to be some sort of a fundamental law anyways, I was more talking about how we don't treat qm like other fields and very rarely delve into theories about why it's so bizarre in the first place. I'm referring to theories such as the many worlds theory or the literal interpretation of qm. These theories are a fascinating place for study but most of the people in the field have the approach of focusing on the ways we can use it practically instead meaning that even top level researchers in the field don't really understand a lot more than an enthusiastic member of the public with some time on their hands.
@MaverickSchembr1
@MaverickSchembr1 2 жыл бұрын
damn @@leocarbaugh5074 and @Daivik you two just blew my mind on quantum mechanics, it's fascinating how the universe has generated it's on laws at the start of literally everything and Leo it's amazing how you convey that sense of mystery in a way that "what is the origin of the creation of everything, and what is the origin of that" and so on so forth. Imo quantum physics is very difficult to fully understand. Do you two think that quantum physics/mechanics will ever be understood by scientists, physicists etc.?
@leocarbaugh5074
@leocarbaugh5074 2 жыл бұрын
@@MaverickSchembr1 I think it could be possible but idk tbh. Even if we figured out everything in qm, I doubt it would explain how this is all here, my hunch is it is probably completely unknowable. If I throw away scientific process and speculate on how this is all here, my best guess is that infinity just exists because nothing can't exist and so there's everything. This idea with the anthropic principle and extra dimensions is my guess but idk and I doubt I ever will because this is most likely unfalsifiable, it just makes the most sense to me.

What I think a lot of people gets wrong about what science calls "observer" is that it gives off the idea that it is being looked at, but in reality it's the act of capturing something by some means, which in turn interact with the "observed" when someone tries to observe it. But it was an awesome video as always, so keep them coming!!!

@@Thunder-db6bk yes, as he tried to explain, imagine that you reach a level where every measurement/observation is a change in the system. When you put your hand outside to see how cold it is and decide to put on a jacket, your hand gives off heat and changes the temperature. Yet when you go outside later with the jacket, you don’t notice the change, you, the ,,observer’’ has made. Now imagine at this scale, taking a look just at the air molecules your hand has touched, they are already warmer, hence you actually changed the temperature. To elaborate a bit, sabine is a professional physicist and joel is a mathematician which basically works on studying infinity, which amazingly can be analyzed mathematically being full of counterintuitive results. I was never taught that electron experiment in school, and hearing it for the first time just BOGGLES my mind. Or at least we might have briefly touched on it, but they explained it with so many scientific terms, that I lost interest for not understanding. Thank you pewds for sharing this information with your fans, and your opinion on it.

I’d highly recommend a channel called TheMercifulServant cause many of the queries and theories you’d mentioned Pewds align with the scientific and Islamic findings and teachings that discuss the universe and the multiverse/the existence of other versions of oneself. It would be super fascinating to see what your reaction to this perspective would be! 😋

@@NlGHTSKY As far as I know, it is perfectly doable as long as you have done atleast a set of intermediate courses on quantum mechanics. My university has quantum chemistry built into its bachelor's program but even if yours doesnt, doing some courses from physics department as electives should suffice. Obviously take this with a grain of salt. I dont know your exact situation, you dont know my exact situation. So what might work for me might not work for you. I have seen master students who had no exposure to anything quantum in their bachelor's and are still working in the field in their 2nd year so Im pretty confident when I tell you that it works. Just to be safe though, I suggest you approach the professor/university you plan to work with for the exact requirements and start planning accordingly. Hope this helped!

@@kapil4973 Thank you a lot for the help ! I'm choosing my first "minor" ( wich i guess is what you call electives ) very soon so i will be carefull! And as a small comment i don't know if that really enters the "Quantum field" like you described it but i've had a course partially dedicated to quantum numbers of atoms and their oritals and hybridations wich i guess is pretty basic but still a part of quantum chemistry!

I didn't know anything about that electron experiment until now. *but* it kinda makes sense that the electrons would act differently while being observed, right? Assuming they were unobserved at that spot before that point. We need light to observe things. If light is a particle and a wave, and electrons are also particles and waves, electrons passing through a dense area of light will naturally have their wave patterns impacted. However, the density of light in that area isn't enough to fully stop an electron. So, after exiting that area, the electrons will keep going until they reach a spot of atoms dense enough to stop them (a wall), but their wave pattern will have been altered by the light, so that they seem to be acting more like a particle than a wave. Chances are high that rather than them just going straight, however it might look, their waves are actually just shallower, and the highs and lows are no longer big enough to reach the middle of the wall at the end. Idk for sure tho, that's just how my mind reasons with it.
@Ganerrr
@Ganerrr 3 жыл бұрын
imo quantum probability creates these sort of "nets" that capture parts or the universe, so whenever someone effects something else [ex. observing, interacting, etc] you get absorbed into the net so what is occurring within this net is actual absolute also, I don't remember what it's called but there's some explement or thought exercise that proves that even if you somehow had a completely passive observer you would get the same effect
