I agree, saying no is a critical skill, and it is so crucial in the industry as well!

Yes, in the industry, this skill is critical for client management. Perhaps you can make a "responding to" video. My viewers will learn so much from you on this topic!

So well said, Vera! Looking back at my career so far, what I regret the most is being "penny-wise" not "pound-wise" with my time management. I was optimizing my commuting time to save 20 minutes per day and then I was packing myself into nonsensical projects that were losing me 6 or 12 months of my life just like that.

I suggest doing a "weekly time audit", sometimes we spend a lot of time and energy on certain task but it gives very little return. I think the regular "time audit" helps refocus on the tasks that move the needle and create the bigger traction. The key is still, track the hours every day, becuase that gives you data to interpret your performance.

@@PhDCoffeeTime I think it is also good to clarify your ultimate goals before you do anything wit your time at all. a boring task that has no reward for now is still fine if it is a tiny step towards your goals.

In fact I have asked my friend to record me on my holiday to Etretat (it's a beautiful sunset location in France!). It was quite strange recording in public, but it is all worthwhile that you enjoyed this surprise section! :)

Watching PhD coffee time while I should be writing my lit review ;) (slight nuance: I have a week 'off', but because of an early baby-appearance, deadlines have shifted haha)
