Thank You Phil... I have not seen that old stump for some time. Brings back memories. For some reason night critters (Racoons?) enjoyed chewing on the trunk which slowly killed it. TONS-OF-FUN slowly watching you turn something I can personally relate to. I am a bit late posting cause I keep re-winding and taking my time. I personally planted that tree when I was younger & still running marathons, wow (my good ole' days?).Thank You Phil and I will be looking forward to all your future turning adventures..... TM

I see the right eye (& partial left), a long snout pointing to that crack like it's sniffing out what's inside? Kanda looks like a baby Raccoon? Bruce I seriously tried to see a Chicken but all I can see is this weirdo Raccoon. All I drink is water, tea, coffee & creamer (I know I'm boring). HA! Wait, now I see your Chicken with the tip of it's beak pointing to the top of the crack? Ah, maybe BUT that funny little Raccoon is what jumps out at me the most? Oh Well guess I will keep looking? I once saw a dog howling at the moon on Phil's dogwood turning on the inside of the bowl quite a while back but I think I was the only one. It got me going. Good morning 🌅, Phil, Not mushroom for error, 😂, when you first showed the face, I thought I could see the shape of a mushroom cap, 🧢, wrong sort of cap he does a bugger, 😂. The funny rippling marks that you were appointed to., I think could’ve been a route from another tree, or some stones a rock, 🪨 😂, as I turned something very similar three or four years ago which was a route and it had similar sort of marks, I know you like to keep the bark on, I think I have been inclined to remove it as you would’ve had more grain figuring under that bark, I seem to recollect that’s what I did to mine, all in all it turned out to be a nice project, stay safe, looking 👀 forward to your next adventure 😂, From old dude, 😂 France .
@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop3 ай бұрын
Thank you! 😊 For my turnings, I'm always trying to show the original tree, with the bark, contrasted with the beauty of the finished wood. Yeah, it would have had more beautiful grain to show but no contrast. It's just what I like to do, not necessarily the right thing for everyone.

So nice to have a bowl from your own tree! We lost our 120-year old pin oak a couple years ago, and a friend turned some bowls for us out of pieces we saved. He did a set of three live-edge nesting bowls, two more live-edge with a bit of dark resin (that tree was really far gone), and one “standard” bowl. We’re so grateful to have those beautiful bowls made from our tree. Losing the tree was heartbreaking, but it was so rotten there was no saving it. I don’t know Tuffy, but if he enjoys his applewood bowl half as much as we love our pin oak bowls, you’ve done a great service to your friend. ps … ugly? Ummm … no. It’s different from what you usually do, and a bit bulbous, but gosh … it’s beautiful!

That would be a beautiful piece of wood to turn. Very nice like always Phil. Thank you for sharing. See you on the next one

Looks like a loaf of homemade bread with the center eaten out! Yum!

I spotted an owl sitting on a limb at the bottem! Great piece of art again. I've seen wood on a tree bowl shaped like this but haven't found one to turn. At least now I've seen a result, thank you.
