I also take collagen for my tendons because I climb. I suggest adding it to food if at all possible. Things like curries or chilli or anything with a broth. You make a slurry first and then add it to avoid the clumps. If it’s in food like that I guarantee you don’t even taste it.

Yes exactly, put it in savory dishes.. plus just like making gravy, add collagen powder to a small volume of liquid to mix (warm or hot works best), then add mixed slurry to main batch.

@duck61004 ай бұрын
@@alexmacleod9727 yeah I’m aware of how disputed it is that collagen helps with tendon injuries at all. The reason I take it is because I really struggle with getting an adequate amount of protein for the volume of training I do and collagen is an insanely easy way to add an easy extra 20g a day, and this really does make a difference to my recovery times. The fact that it may also help with the tendinitis I’m prone to, even if this ends up being untrue, is a bonus for me. I did find that once I started taking it I had fewer tendon issues and this might have been placebo or just me getting the protein I need but either way I’m happy about it.

I struggled for 2 years with achilles issues. Things that helped: Training the soleus. I did calf raises but you lean forward ad much as possible against a wall. If you can get to a gym sitting calf raises are great as well. Changing my running style to not be on the forefoot and more of midfoot. Compression socks especially forwarming up the lower leg before training starts and after as recovery.

Am dealing with achilles issues lately too and compressions have made a big difference! I have to wear them anyway for my shitty circulation 😂
@Audifan85954 ай бұрын
I had achilles issues earlier this year that stopped me running for three months. Turned out the problem was indeed a strain in my soleus muscle, but not due to weakness...my problem was that my nervous system had been misfiring my muscles during my walking/running stride, causing the wrong muscles to be turning on and off at the wrong times. This pulled my pelvis into a very weird compensatory position and caused me to land supinated on my right foot, which strained the hell out of my right soleus. I found a physical therapist specializing in "postural restoration therapy" and he was able to diagnose and fix my gait very quickly! Now that I'm moving properly, I'm no longer putting strain on my soleus, and my achilles is perfect ❤

Definitely no need for sugar if ur usually a sugar in the am bevy kinda person. Funny story-last big training block in an absolute state of fatigue & brain not working properly I put the collagen in my electrolytes by mistake instead of the coffee…surprisingly it was ok😂 I wasn’t mad at the vanilla passion fruit taste sensation accidentally made…but then again, I wasn’t about to chuck it out and start again🤣🤣🤣

@Audifan85954 ай бұрын
Phily, hopefully you see this comment-- if your achilles is angry after your body is already so used to the sheer volume and intensity of running you do.... it's probably not tendon weakness. Your body should be well adjusted to the impact and strain you're putting on it by now. What I think of, because I went through this with my achilles, is a potential issue with your posture. Back in February I very suddenly experienced intense stiffness and strain in my right achilles. I tried taking a few days off but it didn't help, and after poking around I found tenderness on my shin, on what I would later identify as my soleus muscle. I did a lot of digging on youtube and found something called postural restoration/PRI, which revolves around the relationship between the jaw, the pelvis, and the nervous system. In my case, it turned out that my brain was firing my leg muscles in an incorrect pattern, and it caused my right leg muscles to be stuck "on," with my left muscles being underactive. My nervous system compensated by twisting my pelvis so that the right side was internally rotated and the left side was externally rotated, all the time, in order to keep my body moving in a straight line. So every step I walked or ran was in this bad pattern that strained that soleus muscle. Over time, it just couldn't handle it and it aggravated my achilles. I found a physical therapist that specializes in postural restoration therapy, and he was able to diagnose all of this for me as well as give me exercises to retrain my brain to turn the muscles on and off properly. It worked like an absolute miracle and now I am running again, completely pain and injury free. I would highly recommend seeking out a PT who specializes in postural restoration and getting an evaluation, even if only to rule it out as a possible problem. There is a nonzero chance that you've got some posture stuff going on that may be, even VERY subtly, causing strain on the wrong muscles. It may not be the issue I personally had, but there are lots of patterns of postural issues that can lead to achilles pain, which can be addressed with this therapy. It definitely doesn't hurt to check!

Collagen peptides do absolutely nothing different than just consuming any protein source. All peptides (proteins) are degraded upon digestion and your body has no way of ‘remembering’ that the amino acids came from collagen or any other protein. Pure pseudoscience. Love the vids!
