It broke me. I sobbed and shook for a whole hour.

Honestly, this album dragged me through 2020. I have never listened to an album this many times in such a short time and it gets better each time. Amazing. And there is no better theme song to 2020 than "I Know The End" Check out her first album as well. Also incredibly good. I will say it's not as good as Punisher. She has really come into her own in every respect on Punisher, but her talent was already undeniable on Strangers In The Alps. She's also part of two bands: Boygenius with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. They released an EP in 2018 and it's also incredible. And she's in Better Oblivion Community Center with Connor Oberst. They released an album in 2019, which I also thought was quite good.

you're exactly right about the album. I was really underwhelmed the first time I heard it but I gave it a few more times and it ended up being my most listened to album last year. The subtleties and understatedness of this album are what makes it last so long and be so relistenable.
@iainrobb20763 жыл бұрын
I'd agree with that. Aside from just a few songs, it underwhelmed me too. I've heard it twice now and think it's excellent. It reminds me a bit of ambient music in the sense that it's not so much about individual moments than subtle changes here and there and overall effect. Good lyrics too, which surprised me, given the naivety of her online political proclamations. Haven't heard her debut yet, so can't tell if this represents a maturation in direction.
