The workmanship on this conversion barrel, my example being the 2" unit, the workmanship is factory grade. In fact the absence of machine marks and so much as a stray metal flake takes over-all HP22 quality up a notch! it's that good. I have both the long and short version but the long barrel is the barrel that will cause the slide to crack especially running the HV ammo. It's more weight than the frame can handle.

Is the thread protector removable? You mentioned that you sealed it with loctite. Is there enough thread to securely attach to a napa filter?

The thread adaptor, is locked to barrel. Yes, the thread protector is removable. It has the normal 1/2 inch of threading to use.

I am thinking about following your process for threading my Jimenez Arms JA-22 barrel in the exact same way. Would you be willing to do this if I send you the barrel? If not, what particular diameter did you mill down your barrel to before threading it to 8mmx75? I think I got everything else that was needed from your video. Thanks for this great post!

You can send barrel. And I will thread yours. Most just buy mine threaded on EBay. And sell me thier old one ($20 for 3inch/ $30 for 5) If you have old original hp22 barrel in nickle. It's more brite than brushed looking newer hp22a barrels. So I would recommend sending yours. I only get those in core exchange. But yes, I mill barrel to 8mm. Then thread to m8x 70. Add the Walther p22 adaptor. Then mill from 12mm, to just under 10mm. I give the end before the threaded seat, a angled curve from 10mm to 12mm. And open up barrel sleave from 10mm to 12mm. So it's tapered a bit. After test fitting barrel in sleave. I remove barrel, then adaptor. Add red lock tight to barrel threads. Replace adaptor, and re blue barrel end. After it sits over night. I run a full mag down it. This is to test only problem I have had. To remove barrel from sleave. You remove pin. But then must tap barrel out. A brass bolt milled to fit inside, and over breach. The older barrels form rust inside sleave. And at end of barrel. There are teeth around barrel. For 1/2 inch. This grips barrel in tight. It's not hard to tap out on newer factory barrels. But old ones with rust. Can take a beating. Not trying to scare you. It is a bit of work. But worth it.

That definitely sounds more involved than I was thinking and what I was thinking already seemed involved to me. Lol! XD Thank you for sharing your information so freely! I would be glad to send my barrel to you. Would it be a problem that the barrel is from a different gun? I would need you to leave the threads non-locktighted and just mill the adapter down to the original diameter of the barrel after milling and threading it as you do the hp22. The JA-22’s barrel is held ppk style with one pin at the chamber. This way I can remove the adapter when assembling/disassembling the pistol (via removing the slide by unlocking it and sliding it over the barrel) In other words, the adapter will have to be free to screw on and off underneath the slide. This way it acts as part of the fixed barrel when the slide reciprocates around it. Also cost?

@@Avatarfocus I can forgo the lock tight. But the barrel removal, and gun disassembly, is not hindered by the added thread adaptor. Not adding the lock tight, will allow adaptor to come off with silencer removal. But I can skip the lock tight if you wish. If you send me your barrel. Then it would be 69 for the process, and ship back to you. Also ANY hp22 barrel will fit. Original version, to new.

@@Avatarfocus Sorry. Just realised your asking about the JA-22. Not the Phoenix. I have done the Jennings J22 twice. But by using a new longer barrel. Cutting down, and adding a Sig 9mx75 adaptor. I have not tried using a Walther adaptor.

Sorry late reply. Well many years ago. On a facebook silencer forum. Someone asked " show me you pics of barrels you threaded". So i added a pic of my Phoenix 22, Jennings 22, Beretta21a, and Taurus PT22 . Was asked by two people if i could do it for them. I said okay, because i could buy the barrels, and sell them to them, on ebay. So i did. I put them at 999 or best of offer. So no one else could buy them. Others saw the auction, and asked me, could i make them one. And you can figure the rest yourself.

I want to build a Target 25 cal Phoenix. I contacted them directly and they wouldn’t build me one. Not sure if you could but thought I would ask. Plan is to buy stock 25 cal gun. Then buy 22 Target barrel assembly. Then find some one to convert to 25 cal.

I just built 2 25acp threaded barrels for customers. 3 inch all they make now. One customer said he had a 5 inch 25acp barrel. Made by Phoenix many years ago. I can't find anything online about it. The 5 inch 22lr barrel sleave. Is not compatible with the 25acp lower. I can thread, and add a picatinny rail to the 3inch 25acp barrel. Only other option. Is to find a 10mm OD 25acp barrel blank. And have extended past barrel sleave breach.

How did you get that pin out?

I believe its 3/32. It comes out easy. The barrel is harder. I got a 0.25 brass bolt. Milled down to 0.22. Them milled the head to 09.5mm.(barrel is 09.78/09.86mm) filed head to miss fead ramp. The first 1/2 inch of barrel tip. Has groves. To help secure. But once past tapping that out. Its easy.
