Oh nice!! Glad it’s see they put one out! Great to see that they added some way to dry prints!

Good to hear from you buddy. Yes, it's a nice bit of kit. 😁

Good news! I just picked one of these up, and it looks like they updated the firmware at some point. As long as you don't cycle the power, mine automatically remembers the last dry and cure times, and will default to those instead of 30 mins.

Seems a logical route having 2 units to save time. Do you think the 4 UV LEDS at the bottom are adequate for curing 100% of the base of the print?
@vogman2 жыл бұрын
4 on each side may have been nicer, but it's better than just a reflective strip. Of course, if you saw my Better Cleaning & Curing video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX2chXagqbWVrZY ) you could always add more reflective surfaces 😁
@johngrant57492 жыл бұрын
Thanks, surprisingly I had missed that video!! 😱😫 Just checking out UV leds and the beam angle of similar leds is 150* so the UV should in theory hit dead centre, but as you say reflectors would help. Aluminium duct tape?

I believe the reason for slow start up is to ensure that the motor doesn't engage too quickly and burn out.
@vogman2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Stirring a liquid takes more force than folks realise 😁
@hollt6932 жыл бұрын
The motor isn't going to burn out, as the agitator is coupled magnetically. The reason for the slow start is to avoid disengaging the magnetic coupling, which happens when the magnets on the motor get too far away from the ones on the agitator due to drag on the latter and lose their pull. Twenty-five seconds seems like a heck of a warm-up phase, but eight litres is a *lot* of volume to move, and perhaps they're expecting you to reuse it a few times, which would result in resin sludge at the bottom and more drag on the agitator, possibly requiring that slow of a start. Better safe than sorry, I say.

Physically, it looks like a great product. The cure machine could stand to have a better interface. What would be the use case for running the cure for hours?
@svaarcaldersson66282 жыл бұрын
To over cure resin waste or resin that resides in water/IPA.

It will cure for a maximum of 2 hours, then you'd need to restart it 😁

Nice! I missed the sale on day one. I hope Santa placed me on the ‘nice’ list. Is it advised to clean the tank after most cleanings so the vortex spinning thing doesn’t get too dirty?
@vogman2 жыл бұрын
Keep the fluid as clean as you can. Pre-dipping in a container of dirty cleaning fluid can easily remove the vast majority of uncured resin and help in this regard. Have a look at this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX2chXagqbWVrZY

The plug on my wash and cure machines doesn't fully go in but they power up and work fine. I noticed that was the same case for your wash machine; is it supposed to be like that? My Sonic Mighty 8K and Sonic Saber have the plug go in fully so just wanting to make sure I didn't get a defective unit.
@hollt6932 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this. The question(s) that occurred to me was, are you supposed to run the dry cycle with the orange cover off? If not, where is the air drawn from, and how is the vapor exhausted from the chamber? My apologies if you covered that in the video and I missed it. I'll re-watch it just in case. If the cover is acrylic (or polycarbonate, or probably most high-clarity plastics, idk), I'd also worry somewhat about the isopropanol vapors degrading it, unless they had the forethought to coat the inside with something to resist that. Edit: Okay, it seems all the examples show the fans operating with the cover on, and I believe I even heard you say that they're to "blow air around the enclosure". So then, does the alcohol just evaporate and stay in the enclosure, hitting you all at once when you lift the cover off? I have no idea why I'm so confused by this, but yeah.

As always, a tremendously helpful and fair review (thank you). I don't suppose that you have any assessment, opinion or figures on the costs of running 3D printers, or wash & cure stations? Given the current energy crisis and increased costs, I am wary of those hidden costs. Thanks and keep up the amazing work!

@@vogman Didn't you mention energy consumption in your review of the... I think it was the Anycubic Photon D2? I could've sworn you said that DLP printers use less energy than LCD ones. Something like that. At any rate, I'm sure resin printing (including post-curing) *must* require less electricity than FDM, as keeping a nozzle and build plate heated can't be terribly energy efficient.

Dear lord, these 3D printer companies are putting out new (or upgrading older) products faster than I can keep track of them. Seems like every time I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a purchase something new and shiny comes out and distracts my fickle monkey brain. On an aside, have you by any chance looked into hollow casting? It seems like it would be quite a challenge with 3D prints but would save quite a bit of metal for larger prints
@hollt6932 жыл бұрын
Why would hollow casting be any more difficult with 3D prints? (Other than having to design the models accordingly.)
