My friend and I once took a tally of how many times the laugh track effect is used in one episode of Sam and Cat. If I remember correctly, it was used around 200 times. And I swear to God, my friend and I didn't laugh once. The only part we thought was funny was the one quote that didn't have a laugh track - when Goomer's mother says "When I adopted you, I should have kept the receipt".

There's a reason why season 1 of iCarly worked: the original idea for the show was actually a good idea, and while it did have a couple of duds, it still managed to produce some good episodes, and didn't really overstay its welcome. It only had 25 episodes air in season 1. No 44-minute movies, no 2-part episodes, and none of the flaws they started to let out in season 2. Of course, don't assume that the reason why Sam & Cat stopped was because it was terrible. Oh no. There's actually a good reason, if anybody's aware of the little scandal that happened involving Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande "showing some skin," and the two just not getting along w/ one another anymore.

Patrick Brough Even though I like the fact that they show different types of fans (and fans of many different ages) who enjoy their webshow, I find it very unrealistic that some grown ass man (he looks about late 30s-early 40s) would somehow ask three 16-17 year old teens from another part of the US to just somehow be part of his wedding and have Carly and Sam be his fiancée's bridesmaids and Freddie be his best man. They barely know these people and yet they're just somehow all up for having them be part of a personal celebration that's usually geared towards having your closest friends and family members attend the wedding.

Speaking of choking, in that iCarly episode in which they were paid to advertise bad sneakers, Sam started to choke on some food (because she wolfed down someone's food that was there and then was shocked by how much money they were being offered), and they rectified the situation by smacking her in the back. I took a first aid class in college, and the professor told us never to treat choking by slapping the person on the back. If they could talk or cough, then it was a good sign because their airway was still partway open. The proper course of action is to provide reassurance and encourage them to keep coughing so the obstruction would be forced out. If the person is slapped on the back, then the obstruction could slip further down and block off air flow completely, in which case coughing won't work and the Heimlech maneuver is needed. Since the choking treatment on iCarly was blatantly wrong it's possible that A) whoever slapped Sam was actually trying to kill her and make it look like an accident (I can't say I blame them) and B) the writers are trying to get viewers to kill their friends by accident.

I remember seeing this episode. The guy who works at the store is supposed to be a cheapskate. He sells the dolls for $100 when they don't even come with hair or clothes. The clothes are purchased separately as "accessories." He even adds to the cost because the doll's hair is braided. I used to have a problem with this but honestly I think it's a lot funnier now. Most people have been noticing more obvious defects in the dolls (thin wigs, disjointed eyes, looser limbs etc.)
@avalasialove8 жыл бұрын
Also, a problem that I had with the show overall is that almost none of the clients were normal. It's not funny because their abnormal situations often involved them dumping their kids off for Sam and Cat to fix. I understand that the point is to help them but there's a better way to do this.

I've actually only seen this episode in passing, but as a former American Girl employee, this is hilarious to listen to. You do have the basic idea of the dolls down: they're high quality dolls and were originally known for being one of the few educational toys marketed to girls. I remember only hearing one bit about how it's like "You breathed in the store!! That's $500!" and that's how it feels even from a company standpoint at times. The only thing I could think of with the fat doll thing is the fact that the American Girls are a little bigger when compared to things like Barbies or Polly Pockets, but that's all I could even compare it to. One way to make the doll plot funny in mind would be to throw the twist early. Have Sam and Cat research the dolls, find out how much they are, and maybe like order one, but then find out the girl lied so they go as a punishment buy a knock off doll (there's thousands of them. trust me.). This also would add that Sam and Cat would have bought the doll if the truth was real, making them seem reliable and likable baby sitters (weird, huh?). For Sam being mad, maybe when she was a kid, she secretly wanted one, but her mom was always too poor to get one so she had resentment and jealousy? Basically this episode sounds like Schnieder whining and not knowing anything about dolls.

Do you think that if Dan Schneider ended up making the Gibby spinoff instead of Sam & Cat it would have been better? The concept sounded more interesting and Dan Schneider seemed pretty passionate about it. Then again, it's an entire show starring a comic relief character.
@RyanStorey12318 жыл бұрын
Probably not. I'll be honest, the last season of iCarly really suffered from having Gibby as a main character instead of a side character. He invaded every scene and contributed nothing but random jokes that interrupted the flow of the plot. Half the time, I wanted to tell him to shut up and let the rest of the characters go about their business. Gibby wasn't horrible in the beginning, but over the course of the show they began adding him into more episodes and giving him larger roles and he got really annoying.

I remember two episodes that I thought were really bad: #1. I forgot the name but yeah - there was this episode where they had a commercial for their kind of disturbing baby sitting service and Dice brings his dog (oopey or something like that ), and then the next morning, a entitled couple and their entitled daughter comes in and demands the dog and the daughter does not listen to anything and She keeps on saying "the dog's name is Cornelius "because she wants to use the poor thing for a very very snobby dancing show and they say they're going to get a police officer to help them to force them to get the dog back and Sam and Cat are trying to help and then they found a perfect match but little guy doesn't like to be picked up and Entitled dad And entitled daughter does go through with their idiotic plan and I was right because when dice tells her that she just wanted (oopey? ) back is because of the show and she's all like "It'S nOt DuMB ,yOu'Re DUmb" 😋😋😋 and well she got attacked And #2 there was this episode were Cat was supposed to make meatballs and Sam was extremely excited but when they're looking around , Cat finds a adorable pink shoe but she goes extremely obsessed with it and wants to find the other one and says she doesn't care about the meatballs no more and after that Sam wants cats grandmother to help her out ,but when she gets there, she for some reason gets offended and leaves, but then they see a show where two guys are with a toilet pipe and a teenage girl comes around, wearing the same shoe that Cat is for some reason obsessed with , she tells sam she will make the meatballs if Sam helps her steal the other shoe when they get there, Sam almost has a friendship with the girl because she pretends she's a nurse,but the girl feels odd and sees cat stealing her she presses a button screaming help and when two doctors come in she tells them to get cat, but she jumps out of the one window and she says in a way like she was the at dentist like the girl "Get well soon" But Sam does the same thing and they watch fireworks while eating meatballs

I mean, as far as expensive collector's dolls go, I've seen far worse. I had a friend last year who wanted to buy this extremely rare doll, which could only be acquired through a Web auction, which had common prices over $2,000.
@Zinervawyrm6 жыл бұрын
A reoccurring theme in these shows is that story and actual plot seems nonexistent. How I might have wrote this story: Girl doesn't think she'll pass this big math test, have one of the characters see what the upcoming test is and say, "Oh I remember that test, I got an A on it, it was easy." Then have them show the old test. Then they help her study for it and promise if she gets an A too, they'll buy the doll for her. Okay, tutoring can happen and fade and next scene girl gets an A+. So as promise Sam and Cat go to the doll store, and have just enough money together to buy said doll, (Say something like $350) and its pricey enough that was all the money they had. But it was worth it to see the girl happy. Then they play with the doll, instead of it being shot out of something, just have the doll's leg fall off by being dropped. Next have them take the doll back to the store because the doll has a guarantee to be fixed for life if damaged, but they find out that guarantee comes with a high fee. (Something ridiculous, say like $5000 because kids show.) Otherwise they would have to pay each time something happens to the doll and the cost to fix the leg is $400. So they leave and go to a small mom and pop doll doctor, who only charges $20 and allows time for people who can't pay up front or right away. He looks at the doll and says, "Sorry, but I can't fix this doll, I'll be in legal trouble if I do, FrensoGirl always knows when their dolls are fixed by someone else. I don't know how they know, but they know!" So they leave and go back to the doll store, and demand they fix the doll for free, to which Mr. Snooty explains that these dolls are special, and must be treated as so and gives them a tour while explaining why these dolls cost has much as they do. Then they get kicked out. After that, they discover that a famous actress, who happens to look like Sam, be a huge fan of these dolls. (Because wacky kids show) Sam dresses up like said actress, comes in and makes a distraction and says, she's going let every customer take what they want because she'll pay for them. This way you can keep the crazy people "stealing" thing, but this is so to cause a commotion and then Cat sneaks in the back room where they fix the dolls, dressed in scrubs and what not, going, "We have a very sick doll! We need to fix her right away! Code Red!" This works, but then its revealed that all the doll doctors just do is put the leg back on by sticking chewed gum in the socket and they treat the doll with a chemical to make it more fragile, so that it will break easier next time, or something to the extent that they try to rip people off. She also learns that the dolls' eyes are cameras that record things to keep track of anyone else who may dare try to fix these dolls, so the company can sue other toy makers and toy store owners. Then the rest of the plot would be to show the Snooty guy what's really going on, have it reveal he already knows about it and tries to get rid of him, so they get the other toy maker/doll doctor from earlier, and because wacky kids show, its revealed that the two are brothers and the reasonable doll doctor is appalled and has his brother exposed and arrested and gets the rights to the doll line and does things differently and fixed the doll properly, free of charge, and allows Sam, Cat, and the other girl be customers for life free of charge. Then at the last minute, the girl feeling guilty gives back the doll and reveals she stole the other character's test and copied it, so she really didn't pass because she cheated and doesn't deserve the doll. But she gets to keep the doll anyway, because she and Sam and Cat help bring attention to the shady business practice of the company. God! This was a long rant, but, if anyone got through, that would be my idea.

I reckon you should do iCarly's iBeat the Heat on the Bottom of the Bakery and then the Drake and Josh Inn as its Bizzaro Bakery counterpart
@iKillerZombie8 жыл бұрын
***** First of all, there's the previously mentioned fact that the episode feels like a ripoff of the Drake and Josh inn with them having the relatively same plot of a bunch of strangers invading the main character's house but in addition to that, the episode also feels cluttered, honestly it feels like a sequel to several different episodes; Griffin from iDate a Bad Boy appears, Spencer's doctor from iFight Shelby Marx appears, the recurring character of Chuck makes an appearance, Lewbert and Mrs. Benson's short lived romance from iHurt Lewbert is developed on and all of that is in addition to the main plot and the original subplots and it makes it feel like way too much is happening. There's also the fact that Sam is really unlikable in this episode given that she forces the elderly to massage her, Freddie's subplot revolves around how he doesn't like the fact that his girlfriend is tall (yes, seriously!) and finally; the episode has no progression, the basic plot is; it's a hot day, the power goes out except for Carly's apartment, a bunch of people invade their apartment for air conditioning, stuff happens, the power comes back, they all leave, that's all. In the Drake and Josh in, Drake and Josh actually had to get all the strangers out of the house themselves but in iBeat the Heat, the situation resolves itself in the end.

iKillerZombie Another thing I never understood about this episode (and this complaint does refer to what happens at the very end) is why the hell didn't Carly just leave her school project in her room (or even Spencer's) where it would more likely be safe and not get damaged by a bunch of people around the apartment. She leaves it in the kitchen and Griffin ends up putting it on the floor where people may step on it (which Carly even points out!) The project model did look pretty big for her to carry by herself, so why didn't she ask for Spencer or Freddie to help her carry it up to her room to avoid people messing with it (we know Sam would not have helped cause she's lazy lol). It ends up being destroyed by the girl Freddie was with by accident, and while it's such a copout to end the episode, it was Carly's fault for not taking better responsibly of her model. 😐😐

I seriously wished I changed the channel. The episode in its entirety was uncomfortable and horrible to watch but personally, the worst part for me was that god-awful ending. Basically, I was watching a little girl get forced to 'date' (does she even know what that means?!) an older guy and he was saying all creepy kinds of things to her. You know that awful song Blurred Lines? The one that is practically a rape song? Yeah, this felt like there was a rape scene just waiting to happen. The girl was obviously uncomfortable and no one did anything about that. The guy looked pleased with himself. It was disgusting, and I couldn't believe my fucking eyes. Now I need to go take a shower. I feel dirty after remembering that scene. Those are just my two cents of this terrible episode. 😧

This episode is insulting in every way shape or form.Look idc what anyone thinks. I love dolls and as someone whose mother collected beanie babies this episode is just making a cruel joke behind the collectors' backs. It's like with #MyPoober (I agree the name sounds stupid) where the little girl kept the item that started the whole conflict to begin with. For Fresno Girl, a much better punishment could have been Sam, Cat, and the mother make the little girl go to the store and apologize. The little girl would not get another Fresno Girl doll for about a month because she would get grounded.Sam and Cat then say "if you want your Fresno Girl back you have to pay us"so the little girl has to work in order to pay them back with interest. But then it's revealed they lied to the little girl to teach her a lesson and they sold the doll to the store again. Seems harsh but this well justified since she helped them encourage others to steal just for this one doll

40? They made 40 episodes for just one season? Well I can see the problem here.(Quantity over Quality.) I think that maybe these episodes would be better if the amount of episodes were cut down to something like 22, were carefully proofread like at least a few times, and lastly at least were checked over time and time again before making the script the final draft. I believe that good writing comes from the writers checking over their said work over and over again and should ask themselves:"Is this a out of character moment?,does this make sense in terms of the story?, would this be a good way of structuring said episode?, and so on and so on." I believe that the writers for Sam & Cat missed that and as a result most if not all the episodes were written sloppily/poorly. This episode would of worked better if Sam & Cat did their research before agreeing buying the little girl the doll. Also if I were to redo the episode I would of went with your idea about Sam & Cat starting their own Doll Shop to raise money to get the Fresno Girl Doll. Though yeah PIEGUY great job on the video man.:) Keep up the great work man you're a very smart and intelligent reviewer.

I know this is a little off topic, but do think you can do a full review on iCarly? I'm just curious to know your overall thoughts of the show, since you say both positive and negative things about it. I know you sort of did that in the iGoodbye review a while back, but that was fairly brief. I think it'd be more interesting if you went more into detail about your thoughts on the show in a more coherent manner.
@maxshapiro0788 жыл бұрын
Did you actually read my comment? I said he gave some of his thoughts on the show in his iGoodbye review, but it was mostly just a rambling and not very in-depth.

Did you see Finding Dory? If you did, what did you think?
@Sarahonwheels8 жыл бұрын
Dory has better friends than goomer. Goomer is literally one of the worst portrayal of a brain damaged person because they play him as the stupid man child. But there's a reason why he is that way...and that"s irritating. Dory also has a disability but it isn't played for laugh. Her disability helped her find her parents and helped Marlon find his son . Goomer is just a punching bag for Sam, Cat and dice to play of off. Brain damage is not a joke. Watching a man struggling to find his shirt is not funny, even if it was on him the whole time.
@imadmohamed8418 жыл бұрын
+Sarah Altieri He's still better than Hudson from Game Shakers. Goomer at least has an excuse of being stupid af. He got hit in the head in a MMA fight.

The episode from Drake & Josh where Josh accidentally breaks Drake's new signed guitar and then goes out of his way to buy Drake a brand new guitar that looks exactly like the broken one and get it signed by Devon Malone, Drake's favorite musician. I can see why. Similar plot but of course the difference is Drake & Josh did it way better because hey it's Drake & Josh we're talking about.

PLEASE do "Thunder and Danger" next!!! There are so many problems with that episode: It's more of a Henry Danger episode than a Thundermans episode (which is sad because Thundermans is actually a guilty pleasure of mine; the only good modern Nick show there is I can find), none of the Thundermans (other than Phoebe and Max) and not even Max's bunny Dr. Colosso show up, which is really sad cause Colosso would have been an excellent addition to the story. The plot with all the Henry Danger villains coming together could have literally happened in a regular 1/2-hour episode. They didn't need the Thundermans help. The whole Jasper/Piper subplot wasted up time in which we could have seen the other Thundermans and Colosso. And I know this is gonna make me sound like a jealous fanboy because I kinda have a crush on Kira Kosarin (aka Phoebe) but Henry hitting on her (i.e. taking pictures of her ass, flirting with her constantly) immediately after his last girlfriend broke up with him makes him such a pervert. And he was so ridiculously-stupid in that scene when they were searching for Captain Man (you may have to watch the episode if you haven't already to know what I'm talking about).
