Thank you, Melanie. I really like how when I´m in a time of lower energy you have videos I can do and then when I feel more energy and ready to workout a bit more, you have those too, like this one. I´m so grateful. I always like the pace of your videos, the transition times are good, your voice, the movement,, all the details work so well for me. I hope you´re doing well. I really would love to have a good weekly routine so I can learn how to use Pilates reformer for my workout life, because though I try other kinds of exercise for strength ö like weights, I just can´t sustain it without discomfort in my body and then having set backs with pain, injury etc. Pilates seems to be how I can keep going so I want to find a way to slowly build my Pilates strength and I have questions, etc. I know that your membership offers weekly programs now, does it also offer interaction with you? Is there a way that.I could see inside the membership to see if it's what I'm looking for? Your videos here offer SO MUCH I just wonder what the membership offers that this doesn't Thanks for your help, always. You know that I need to take things slowly, I have chronic fatigue and body pain comes and goes, etc. so committing to things needs to be worth while in terms of time and money. I can't imagine what more you offer given there is much here to have from you, thankfully so! Blessings!

Lara, thank you so much for this kind note and for sharing about your needs. My mom has had CFS/ME for years, and through her experience, I’ve become well aware of how daunting persistent fatigue can be. I totally understand the desire for more structure and more feedback. If you’d like to browse through the membership video catalog, you can do so here: Members-only videos kzbin.info/aero/UUMO-L23-WoVK6GyJLNI-y0qdA - this has the playlist with all of the members only videos. The primary difference is that there is far more variation in prop work and choreography in the membership videos, as well as bonuses like restorative and stretch work. Basically, things that don’t “perform” well for the KZbin algorithm, but are all a part of a balanced workout plan and closer to what I would program for clients in person. The members weekly workout plans are all private to members only posts in the community tab at present, and that is also the current forum for Q&A with me as needed. All of the members-exclusive videos are ad-free; KZbin can’t give me access to make the main channel content ad-free for you, but this spring, I’ll be rolling out a fully ad-free catalog when I launch my membership platform on my website. @@MelanieLopezPilates Thank you so very much for all of this. I'm excited that you're working on a website so even more people can have the benefit from you and your videos. For me there is nothing missing in your videos on KZbin however I really would love a weekly routine...that's all that's missing for me and I know that those playlists are provided weekly from what I understand, in your membership. I think that I will keep going here on KZbin as I have been, get stronger and more consistent and when the time feels right and money works out I will join the membership to access the weekly plans, as though I was an in person student. I already feel like your student : ) You are such a great teacher, one I would be looking for here in Denver, so I'm so happy that I have access to you here on KZbin. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me in detail, for your understanding . i feel for your mother, and for allowing me to browse the membership. Would you mind sharing some details around what this feels like to you/for which part of your abs you have trouble feeling the engagement, or which movements/positions you're having trouble noticing this in ("all" is an acceptable answer, lol)? @@MelanieLopezPilates someone once told me abs are engaged when it feels like you are preparing for someone to punch you in the gut! I just feel like I forget to breath when they are engaged. Not sure this is helpful!

@nicoleeckholm1710 I think what they were describing is more likely abdominal bracing, which is more commonly used in things like heavy lifting, and is probably overkill for pilates. I would describe that more as turning every core muscle on to 100%, or gripping, which isn't great to do constantly and can lead to some unpleasant things like pelvic floor issues if overdone and not paired with relaxation techniques. There's a way to engage the core without turning the knob up to 11, so to speak. There's an article here that briefly outlines the difference between bracing vs. engagement -- I think this is a good start: www.mgs.physio/pilates-core-activation-vs-bracing/#:~:text=Whereas%2C%20when%20you%20carry%20out,than%20having%20a%20braced%20core. Re: breathing, it's hard to explain this thoroughly via a comment, but one would typically want to think about trying to keep the deep core/lower part of the abs gently to moderately engaged while inhaling and expanding through the ribcage in a 360 degree manner (focusing more on expansion into the back and sides to avoid rib flaring) vs. taking belly breaths. To be transparent, this can take some work and attention to get right (it took me a while and some work with my PT to "get it") If that's something you'd like to explore in a private session, please feel free to reach out.
