Types of Sunscreen Physical/Mineral Blockers: Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide: block both UVA and UVB - Act as a physical barrier against the sun rays. Blocks and reflect the light. - Less irritating (Good for sensitive skin) - Zinc is stronger than Titanium ○ Baby Cream: 15% Zinc (backup) Chemical Blockers: Avobenzone, Oxybenzone, Dioxybenzone, etc.: Don't block - Act as a sponge. Absorb the sunrays convert it into heat then radiate it. - You must apply it then wait 30 minutes. - Don't have any white cast or shadow. - Within chemical blockers, not all block against UVA and UVB. ○ Blocks UVA: avobenzone. Blocks UVA and UVB: oxybenzone and dioxybenzone

Can you discuss the efficacy of “setting spray” sunscreens? I’m skeptical of them given they are all chemical - and if you are spritzing them on top of your makeup later in the day, how will it absorb adequately? I may be missing something so wanted to ask. Thank you!
@AlanisDoolittle5 жыл бұрын
I second this! Been looking into setting spray SPF’s but wasn’t too sure on the efficacy of them over makeup. Would love to hear her thoughts on this!
@deederrs3 жыл бұрын
That is a very good observation and point. I was JUST looking at the facial spray spf yesterday to reapply throughout day. I have not seen one personally made from physical sunscreen prob because of the white ?? However seems like it wouldn’t be worth it to use over makeup. Also, did anyone know what she meant by the cream example ? Aren’t all the sunscreens that aren’t in spray form or powder considered cream ? I didn’t understand that at all lol.
@sofijaostojic69353 жыл бұрын
@@deederrs I think she means the face creams that have SPF in them. But know those aren’t optimal since people tend not to apply the correct dosage since they treat it as a moisturizer

SPF 30-50 Broad spectrum (protect against UVA and UVB) SPF- sun protection factor -> the amount of time it takes your skin to burn times the factor of spf is equal to how long it takes for your skin to burn UVA- cause ageing and melanoma UVB- burn the superficial layer of skin (tanning) can lead to damage in basal and squamous cells. 1 in 5 Americans develop skin cancer Every hour someone dies from melanoma 1) physical blockers (mineral blockers) Eg: Zinc Oxide(stronger than titanium), Titanium Oxide -> acts as a physical barrier that blocks the light and reflect it off skin Less irritating, don’t need to simmer or marinade on face before going out, 2) chemical sunscreen Eg: avobenzone, oxybenzone, dioxybenzone -> acts as a sponge, absorb light convert it to heat and radiate it off so the body doesn’t absorb it Apply and let it sit Doesn’t have white cast Doesn’t always block UVA or UVB When in doubt just go for physical sunscreen

Hello! First of all I'm very happy that I have discovered your channel, just about 2 months ago and I watch all the videos u have made for the past year, I need to catch up , I know!!! My burning question is, Spf is a must, that's clear, but how in this world we can possibly reapply it every 2 hours??? Also, supposingly it's not exactly a skincare, or doesn't do ur skin good per se, as of skincare, many suggest to wash off spf from the face once u r home and not oing to go out anymore. It's like after 2h I have to wash my face so that spf doesn't damage my skin, I have to spend all day basically tending to my face??? I have one life.... , I mean, I can put an spf in the morning, and max to powder it during the day like twice....for the rest....uff. I need a reassurance on that, help. Tell me smth encouraging pls, because that's close to nonsense if we have to reapply spf every 2h. I talk about regular daily life, not when u r at the sun, or by the sea.
