It’s cool... dogs know so much that we don’t often realize... they know when a new child is in the house... sometimes they will be extra protective... I had a gigantic malamute 170 pounds...he would come inside now and then,, but mostly wanted to be outside. Because he was an outside cold weather type dog.... but when my niece was born..he changed... he would go sit on the floor right by her crib..constantly monitoring... and he was really gentle around her... and she kind of became his obsession

I’ve always loved pit bulls; their wide heads, their human like expressive faces, their smooth fur which smells like their skin, their colors, their muscles and their amazing personalities. Fully formed, 3 dimensional , just like humans. Yeah, I do know some of them “snap” and hurt people but I just can’t believe it comes out of nowhere and that their humans won’t see the signs. If you know dogs really well, you can read their body language. This is a happy, loved dog who has no insecurity, trauma, jealousy or depression. You can tell when that’s not the case and you pay attention and give strong boundaries. But pit bulls are so worthy of love and trust and patience.

With all due respect. No dog has ever been a " nanny dog." That is a total myth. Pit bulls and other type of dogs were pit into children's rooms to kill rats during the Victorian era. Pit bulls and pit bull mixes are great dogs, but please don't perpetuate the nanny dog myth. I am not anti pit bull. But I am anti pit bull owners who perpetuate the myth that they are just like any other dog. Because they are not. They must be monitored more closely because when stressed they can attack first. That doesn't mean that they will, but they have a higher propensity to. Anyone who actually believes that it is ok to leave a child home alone with any dog is a complete idiot and quite frankly should be in jail.

My grandson had a Rottweiler named Janie. We called her the nanny. She slept with him, swam and went to daycare with him. Everyone loved her and didn’t worry about the kids when she was there. We lost her when she was 12 to cancer. We miss her every day.

I miss my baby girl... she was a blue nose pittie... some dude in the morning in the summer of 2014, apparently she was supposed to be a fighting dog but this dude saved her from being killed, from what the guy said they (previous owner) broke both her legs, so we took her to the vet and she sadly died on the table she had a bad reaction to the Anesthesia. I miss her so much.

I adopted a Pit a couple of years ago. He immediately grew very protective of my teenage daughter, and she of him! They are best buddies. These dogs are adorable when they are well trained and socialised. Just like any other dogs. I volunteer in a no kill shelter several times a month and saw lots of abandoned Pits unfortunately. Some of them are friendly, other distressed and withdrawn but I never saw an aggressive one so far.

Precious babies! Gemma is truly a GEM. I love seeing kids being raised to love and respect animals. This kiddo is blessed to have such a great best friend and an awesome Mama too! Pit bull type dogs will always have a very special place in my heart. They’re very misunderstood, and they’re often abused and discarded like trash. They’re so good, they can be rehabilitated and have normal lives. The whole “they’re fine if they’re raised right” crap, isn’t fair to say. There are so many pit bull type dogs that have come out of abusive situations, and have become loving stable dogs again. Pit bull type dogs deserve a chance. Please, if you have mixed feelings about these wonderful beings, go and volunteer at a shelter for a few days. Pits/bully mixes make up a good portion of dogs who will be PTS, people look past them to get a smaller dog, or a dog they deem “safer”. And again, any dog over 20lbs can maul someone. So stop blaming pits. Don’t feed into the media. They only want to demonize these amazing animals. I’m so thankful that The Dodo puts out lots of videos of pits/bully mixes from all ends of the spectrum (safe homes, to abused and saved). These doggo’s deserve a chance, just like any other dog!♥️

Its true, people think that pitbulls are rough. I can prove them wrong, because I used to have a pitbull named Bereda when I was very young. I don't remember everything that happened with me and my pitbull, but my mother remembered it distinctly. Through the sliding door, we would give each other "kisses." This, however, I remember very clearly. I chased her with a hose and she would try and bite the water. I would hug her, and I loved her so much. But one day, I went outside to play with her, and I didn't see her happy self. I thought she ran away, so I went to my mom to tell her. We looked for her all over, and she was in the side of the yard, lying down. I thought she was tired, but my mom looked shocked and took her to the vet. I was to stay home with my dad, and later my mom came back. She had my Bereda with her, and I wanted to play with her. My mom didn't want to tell me she was dying, so she said that she was very tired. She didn't eat her food. She didn't want to run around and be happy. She didn't want to play. And thats when she died. Now, I know shes in a better place and I'm still remembering her good nature she had.
