I didn't drop off the earth. I just got a little bogged down with work and things. Thank you all for sticking with me! I wanted to make this video because starting out in atheist witchery is so different than other types of witchery. As atheists, we must always stay true to our skeptical nature, even when we are learning something new.

Girrrrl ... I'm about to be the most winginest atheist witch ever. That's how I do my art, writing, it's how I do everything. Seriously, I'm SO glad I found your videos. I'm very new at atheist witchery, really just looking into it, and my amorphous thoughts and feelings around it were just beginning to crystalize. Getting into Tarot is really easy, there is no need to pay money to learn it. First of all its a card game to work with yourself and your thought. Find a Deck you like, make sure the mood of the Deck fits to you. Start with easy patterns, read the meanings of the cards and reflect it with your thought. It also can be a fun group activity, personally I am pretty shameless about using my cards. Sometimes I lay patterns together with Friends then we end up with laying cards for ourselfs or for each other. We have a really lighthearted aproach and a lot of laughing can be involved at Times. After seeing some of your Videos I am confident about your ability to make use and have fun with Tarot cards, keep keeping it real :)

Thank you for this video! I definitely needed to hear this. I had a hard time accepting the fact that I mostly have to craft my spiritual practice on my own, that there probably aren't many books out there that are going to give me what I'm looking for, particularly as a SASS witch. Honestly, that impulse to look to others probably comes from the same kind of roots as my rationalism/skepticism, the fact that I really highly prioritize intellectual humility and learning, so it's my natural inclination to seek out the guidance of others, especially when beginning something new. I just think, "How can I possibly be the expert on this? I've only been doing this for like a year!" But on the other hand, what I've come to realize is that my witchcraft is really just a logical extension of things that I have been doing virtually my entire life: learning, thinking critically, introspecting, writing, constructing and deconstructing meaning in all realms of life, considering moral questions, seeking to understand myself and my world, working towards my goals. And witchcraft may not even be the final evolution of this sequence either. What I'm trying to accomplish spiritually and as a person is much bigger than any one format or aesthetic.

It's great to see you posting again - you have such a grounded way of looking at things, and I super appreciate the guidance as a newbie witch 😊 I can definitely relate to all these pulls (especially resisting the urge of buying those damn beautiful crystals). Ethical consumption under capitalism takes some doing (if it's even possible), but there are tons of low-impact options out there like looking for treasures at group trades, artist markets, local second hand or antique shops, small bookstores, and so forth! Not to mention nature walks (it's amazing what you can find right under your feet!). Hope this helps others in the same boat as me 🍄

I have a video titled "Start A Path | Atheist Skeptical Secular Witchcraft" that has a few tips about getting started. One of my favorite tips is to identify what kind of rituals you are already doing and then just add some magical elements to make it even more mindful and spicy. For example, self care rituals already have a lot of elements of a spell. Just add more sensory triggers. So if you like to take a bath then try adding a fragrance cleansing for the space before you draw the bath and try candle light and visualization while bathing. You can take small steps instead of just buying books by old hippies who appropriated various religions and wrote some spell recipes .

I am playing mtg as I watch this, so.. time to untap and check this out :) Just keep doing whatever ya do :) I don't see myself doing any of this, as I know it would do nothing other then spend time/energy & money. Its a hobby that I do not think I would want to or could get into, but I like to understand people and why people do things. Since its all made up, what does it matter how I do any given "spell"? Why bother with classes? Again, its all made up right so I could make up my own thing. Like, the whole point of the ritual is to have ... fun? Or? Something...?

I play MTG! And yeah you can make up your own spells and stuff but the classes are more to make friends and other connections within the community or to learn to do stuff independent of books. Lots of people make their living running magic shops that do a lot more than just sell random doodads so it's a lot like supporting a local game store imo where many stores also connect you to people who can help beginners. Can't really go to Walmart and ask "who's the best author on practical herbalism" or "what should be mana spread look like in a red deck" and expect an answer.

It sounds like you had a very meaningful experience and I don't want to take away from that so unless you want a skeptic's response then don't read further. Astral travel and out of body experiences in the physical world is easily testable. For example, a woman was tested and found to be able to read a screen that was facing up and above here while she traveled out of her body at night, however, later it was found that she was left alone in the room for extended periods of time during the study so she could have easily just got up and looked at the screen. Same withe the CIA study about astral travel. The participants would describe an average building and the leader of the study would search through maps until they found something similar to what the person was describing. No control group was used. Traveling in another plane is obviously much harder to disprove. As with any great claim such as this, I would require evidence to believe it. If a person brought back information that we can prove they didn't have before the travel would be a good start. I'm a skeptic so "feeling it is true in my gut" is not enough to convince me. Even if that feeling comes out of a deeply meaningful and psychedelic experience. Many people who use EMT claim to visit physical places so they should be able to read signs or leave signs at these locations but this has never been done.

Not sure if you recall our conversation. I would however would like you to hear this. Since then there have been multiple meetings with the same ancestor. I would describe it as a waking dream. It is so real. Katalin, She is from the tenth century the daughter of a very well known Norse, Viking . that I'm not going to reveal. and is as she says a ancestor. I did some research and found that this is in deed a fact. She is a ancestral Grandmother. I would let you know. That I am of poor and failing heath. This is the third time she has visited me. This last time we actually had a walk together and she took my hand. I could feel her touch. Hear her voice, and we looked at each other as real as I'm typing this msg. There is no explanation's for this. I have always believed that all of us and everything are as energy. Yet it seems or I have theorised that part of that energy holds a understanding a consciousness if you would, for lack of words. And no. I haven't done any mind altering substance's.

I think that atheism and witchcraft are a contradiction. atheism is the lack of belief in supernatural deities for lack of evidence. What is witchcraft? Does witchcraft deal with the supernatural? If your claiming a spiritualistic realm while lacking a belief in a central god figure wouldn't that be a spiritual atheist. Someone that believes in spiritually, but not god. If you believe any one resides within this spiritualistic realm. Aren't you just playing the semantics game? Many new age religions do this. They change the names, but the story is still the same. You know like all are one with god, or all are part of god. I as an atheist see the god concept, and spiritually as one in the same. Whether it's a central god, or we are one with god.
@SednaWoo
@SednaWoo 4 жыл бұрын
Hello! I appreciate your skepticism and I 100% do not support pseudoscience or the semantics game. One of my pet peeves is folks using scientific terms with no understanding of their meaning. I am not spiritual and I do not believe in the supernatural. I do not believe in "some divine power out there grater than me" and my witchcraft involves zero % belief and is purely a mindful meditation using the open label placebo effect.
