The art style, music, culture, everything about this movie was beautiful! Sure, it may not be as emotional as UP but it’s a good movie, and whether it’s Pixar’s best or not doesn’t change anything. I love this movie.

personal i love ALMOST EVERYTHING about this movie. the art, the pacing, the culture, the relationships between characters. lucas’ little daydreamy moments are something i can relate to a lot and albertos jealousy feels so natural and real imo. giulia’s reaction to what luca did actually makes sense and the way you can see the parents genuine concern for their son is amazing. i can honestly relate heavily to this movie and to all three of the main characters in it (mostly luca). the undertones of it are also really nice and can be read in many different ways and may especially hit close to home for people within marginalized groups (you could see this as being a reflection of people who are in the lgbt community and closeted or of neurodivergent people who mask or even poc who may find themselves hiding their own cultures in order to fit into certain areas) ❌⚠️ spoiler warning ⚠️ ❌ i think the only thing i didn’t like was when they were revealed to the whole town and everyone let it go cause they won the race. i understand its supposed to be a children’s movie but honestly i feel like they could’ve provided a better reason then brought up them winning the race after/at the end of explaining. like they could’ve set up a few scenes where they like helped around the town, nothing big, just little things and then bring them up like “why would a monster help you run arens or pick up your medicine etc etc.” i think that wouldve been a bit more satisfing. the very end however was something i adored in the way that it wasn’t all pretty and completely happy and tied up in a nice little bow, just like how real life isn’t perfect. it was bittersweet with alberto staying behind while luca went off but in the nicest way possible. it honestly seemed like what was best for the both of them, even if they were separated. luca could go to school and alberto would get to live in the city and adventure while also getting a father figure. of course theyll miss eachother but they’ll probably get to meet again in the summer and write during school so its ok ya know! anyhow thats just my take. great movie! probably my new favorite from pixar just cause of how much i relate to it lol.

Yeah, I was also not a fan of the way they accepted them just because I think they should have made Giulia, Luca, Giulia's Dad, or Alberto should have given a speech saying, "Yes, they (or we) are different, they may have scales, fins, and a tail, but deep down they are just like us. Trying to make it in this world. Testing the boundaries. We all are unique and That's what brings life to our world! So what do you think? Do you really think it's right to kill (or something more family-friendly) somebody just because they are different? Then they would all clap and cheer. Then the villain would come in with a harpoon and try to stab Luca but Alberto would save him and say " I'm not scared of you anymore. Your more of an animal than us." Then he runs away in fear or the town chases him out. I still love the movie either way

2 things to me really stuck out, 1 being the dad’s arm and 2 being Giulia. With the dad’s lack of a left arm and his intense search for sea monsters, it was so easy for them to make a monster rip or eat his arm but no, he was born like that, making him a more sympathetic character, and the same goes for Giulia, they could’ve made her a love interest but they didn’t, she’s a friend and I’m glad they went with that, because then they could’ve made their dynamic that Al Berto gets jealous but that’s Pixar, they don’t take the easy way out they go through the tougher one and the final product is a movie that I think is one of their best (I’m ready for people to disagree so bring it on)

I just finished watching the movie and I'm happy I didn't look at a lot of the tv spots and only the 2 main trailers. I enjoyed this movie all the way through and it's definitely a movie I would watch again. Loved the animation and I love the details on the sea monsters design. Another thing I love is when the characters are viewed from a side perspective they give them a side mouth. (maybe cause I'm just a Sonic fan and I love side mouths lmao) I highly recommend Luca to those who haven't watched it yet! Imo, 9/10.

As an Italian I found the movie's culture and dialect very on point. I really felt when watching this I was sitting with my dad's family who came here post ww2. I did pause the movie to talk to my grandmother because this movie reminded me of her in so many ways also my late grandfather, I think both would have loved this movie.

Well the story is based literall on the directors childhood and he even has a friend named Alberto from that time when he was 12 and shy and the real Alberto did the same thing as the movie one - pushed him out of his comfort zone. So its like a personal story for him and as full its really relateable and Im loving it.

I'm Italian and I watched the movie twice, once in Italian and once in english, I enjoyed it even the second time, I loved how they put songs we all Italians love (When they see the vespa and they play "fatti mandare dalla mamma" it's hilarious 😂) the colors are beautiful, and the story simple but emotional. All the classical names given to the animals are too funny😂, because they gave them names of important people of the past 😂: Machiavelli (writer), Nerone ( Emperor of Rome) and Caligola another emperor, I loved it🤣 Easter eggs like names of boats, especially in Sicilia and in Liguria they give names to even little boats, I think one in the movie was called "focaccia😂". I hope this movie makes the world appreciate our country more.

I recently watched this movie this morning and I thought it was among one of the best pixar movies out there and I'm glad Disney and Pixar is going to their routes of being wholesome and sort of magic. Sure there were some moments that was kinda out of nowhere but it was good and I don't know why but everytime they do a water movie it looks really good and shame this didn't hit the big screen like Soul. 9/10

It was so good! I watched it as a movie night with family. I think this movie is a little similar to Coco because they are both set in cultural places and have a young boy main character. For Luca, I like how different the character designs are especially the eyes which I've never seen in any other Pixar movie. I just like that they were hiding their sea monster abilities. So happy to have watched this movie and that there is no premiere access charges. I don't want to give spoilers but it's one of the best Pixar films ever. Along with the two that came out in 2020 of course.
