I would love to see a video on the basic financial cost of running and what you charge for making the mold and how much you change for 1000 or 10,000 parts. or how long it takes to pay off the equipment.

Let me see what I can do. I do research too, so 1/2 the cash flow is for product development. I have an engineering day job and I do side work too. In general $60/ hour for machine time

Just being curious. How much is a mold like this one ? . .
@DragonflyEngineering Жыл бұрын
I think it was ~$9000 USD, it's been a while since I made it. Thanks for watching!

How to cooling the mould.

This aluminum mold conducts heat enough to not need cooling

What do you do with the plastic waste? Rejected parts, that blob of purged plastic etc. Does it get recycled and mixed into future batches? At what percentage of virgin plastic?
@DragonflyEngineering Жыл бұрын
I do grind up the waste plastic and mix it in with virgin, unless customer-says no. I have a couple grinder episodes if you want to see. I cant grind big blobs( boulders of plastic though). Usually 10% regrind

so if a pneumatic feature fails, you have no error proofing then WOOPSIE? where are the proximity sensors?
@DragonflyEngineering Жыл бұрын
so far not a problem, maybe I will add them if I can for a future run. Thanks for watching

I'm interested to know how much clearance you allow for the ejectors so they operate freely but don't flash? Nice video...gnarly welding 😂🙂
@DragonflyEngineering Жыл бұрын
Usually 0.0005” or 13 um per side of the ejector. Also acts as an air vent. Thanks for watching!

at 13:00 you mising a screw for the actuator connector
@frankishrebellion9479 Жыл бұрын
within qc specs
@DragonflyEngineering Жыл бұрын
Hmm, if I put a screw into the 4th actuator hole then I would be making a 250 ton screw cutting machine. That was not my intension there. Thanks for watching.

@@frankishrebellion9479 maybe watch the mold open again around 13:00

Very impressive shop and equipment. I am very puzzled by your terminology of mold components. Over 40 years of experience in the industry I have never heard of a lot of the terminology you use. I would also suggest some updated mold design software to eliminate design errors causing you repair work.

YOUR MOLD PROTECT IS NOT SET CORRECTLY. MOLDING FOR 20+ YEARS, AND WE USE A BUSINESS CARD. IF THE TOOL LOCKS OVER ON IT, WE CAN GET WROTE UP, POSSIBLY FIRED. YA IT WORKED THE SECOND TIME, BUT STILL SHOULD NOT HAVE LOCKED OVER THE FIRST TIME EVEN IF THAT TUBE WAS WARM AND SOFTENED. BUT I ALSO DEAL WITH 500K TO 2.5 MILLON DOLLAR TOOLS.
