I'm a pretty casual Carti fan, but his more hardcore fanbase is fascinating to me. They'll see that video of Cardi getting pulled over for speeding and clown him for it, but will go right back to thinking of him as this super mysterious being. As a Carti fan the arrest video didnt really shock me. I know he's a regular guy and most Carti fans know that too(hopefully). So seeing him get arrested didnt really shatter his image for me. For alot of fans Carti is a character. We like the character of the Mysterious Vampire even though we know thats not who he really is in real life. Its judt entertainment at the end of the day, and Carti's character is entertaining.

Part of the allure of Carti is the fact that he keeps reinventing himself so every time he pops out it feels fresh and new. I think he unintentionally struck gold with the formula of creating a sense of “mystique” around himself. Changing the formula and doing things considered normal for an artist would dilute his product.

Like I said awhile ago. Carti doesn’t release music because his fans are memorized by his image and aura. He’ll drop a feature or a throwaway every once in awhile but it’s clear he has a terrible work ethic and or he doesn’t care about his fans. That’s one of my biggest problems with this generation of consumers. They support artist based upon their image rather than their music output. Cardi B is another perfect example of coasting off singles/their social media image. Don’t even get me started on Frank Ocean. Too many “artist” from this generation try to be too mysterious. Like bro we just want music then you go back to your bubble. Both artist do the bare minimum to keep coasting and their fans eat it up.

Although this is longer and worse than the WLR wait, this is exactly what happened between Die Lit and WLR as well. At least we had a bunch of leaks during the WLR wait, but this time around for the IAMMUSIC wait Carti has barely had any leaks at all. And he's had even less "major" leaks happen during this wait as well. Between Die Lit and WLR, we had big Carti songs like One Day, Cancun, Neon, Molly, and obviously Pissy Pamper leak. This time around, the only popular Carti song that I could think of that leaked is 24 Songs, that's it. Even for Die Lit, he wouldn't have surprised dropped it when he did if lots of the songs didn't leak before hand, as he kept delaying Die Lit as well. AND his fans were begging him to drop Self Titled as well back in 2016/2017. This isn't new for Carti.
