That means most of their games will be released day and date on PC, because they're live service games. The problem is they'll pay money to lock third party singleplayer games to be their exclusive instead, screwing over other people.

Space Marine 2 is a single player game with a co-op mode and robust multiplayer. It’s not “live service” so, there’s 3 for 2024.

The only new (non-remaster & non-remake) AAA game I can think 🤔 of in all of 2024 was AstroBot exclusively on PlayStation 5. And that's a limited audience for a single-player, one-and-done game since PS4 users are left behind in last-gen. 🤷🏾♂️

There are certain game types where having a larger playerbase is a great idea. Helldivers 2 is a really good example for this. To me, it is more important for PvP games that are Sony First Party games to have more exclusivity. To me, PC vs Playstation is a conversation that becomes realised when we are in each other's crosshairs online. Helldivers has us teaming up, this is awesome, its great. But if sony revives a game like Socom, or Killzone, it would be in Sony's best interest to optimise their next gen consoles for higher frame rates and low input latency to keep the playing field competitive. If not, then it becomes this Console vs PC argument because performance will matter more than ever. Destiny 2 is crossplay, but I recall DF doing a comparison between input latency on a comparable PC with NVIDIA reflex and a base PS5 and they both had good latency. But destiny 2 was an outlier among other Playstation games in that it had excellent input latency even at 60hz. Then as 120hz modes were available on PS5 for Destiny 2, it was pretty good. Good enough for console gamers to remain competitive against PC players. At this rate, the remainder of this gen and the next generation will be very interesting.

I can't understand how people find Helldivers 2 interesting to play. It's exactly the same thing mission after mission just different enemy types. I deleted it after a month it wasn't worth the space. £35 for the game 2 packs and PS+ which wasn't worth the monthly fee either. Basically £60 and 25 hours wasted because of the hype. Other live service games have a story for example. Warframe has so much more and backstory. Helldivers 2 was pretty with no substance.

@@fvjtfjnx6535 i play it often enough and what keeps me coming back is the crew that I play with. I think thats one of the main things. The other draw is the sheer amount of weapons and difficulty choices you can have. The missions can be repetitive, but when you are in a level 9 helldive you are just happy to make it to the extraction point in one piece because holy shit 😂😂 And the illuminates are a nice change in gameplay. The devs keep adding new enemies to kill and so its been kept fresh. And also, there are ALOT of weapons. Thats important too. Space marines can learn a thing or two from Helldivers. Just give the players guns, guns and more guns and let them go to town with it.

If Activision/Blizzard executes the Starcraft Shooter to become a major success and makes it available on all platforms; All will be forgiven and I will call truce on this whole thing. If they make it exclusive then I will even go back to PC gaming for that and will go all out when the RTX 60 series drops because it would likely launch around the same time. Starcraft is THE PC game for me, and broodwar is still my greatest game of all time so I am not hating on PC even though I am a Sony Stallion. I have roots in PC gaming also. Ive mentioned this before. I think Sony will keep their cinematic centric games on a timed exclusive format. They have a good format already, they just have to optimise development costs for these single player games. a starcraft shooter could go many directions, but having a robust RPG with elements from Helldivers, Destiny, World of Warcraft and Battlefield/Planetside would make this game one of the biggest games of next generation. They can use the Call of Duty engine and get the shooting mechanics right and it would draw such a big crowd.

Your looking at old data #1 and #2 you are not understanding that just because PS increased their budget for live service it doesn't mean they decreased the budget for single player games. Of course PS would increase the budgets in the areas that are weaker such as live service. They bought live service studios and a publisher to make the gaas games so the single player studios can continue like normal.

When Sony say "entire" do you not understand what that word means? In a report published by Nikkei, it was revealed that Sony intends to ‘pour’ financial resources into gaming research and development - to the tune of around $2.13 billion. That’s reportedly an investment that’s being made before the end of fiscal year 2024, and it’ll account for a whopping 40% of Sony’s entire R&D spending. Not only that but Sony Group has also expressed a desire to pivot towards a model that focuses much more succinctly on live service titles, with Nikkei’s article referencing the fact that ‘Sony itself has yet to make a splash in live service games.’ PlayStation to Pivot For years, PlayStation’s bread and butter has been in remarkable single-player exclusives, which have dominated markets globally but don’t typically have much staying power - unless sequels are released, of course. That’s partly why, in 2022, Sony stepped up and bought out Bungie for $3.7 billion, recognising that the minds that brought the world Destiny could offer something unique in the ever-growing market of live service games. According to the report published by Nikkei.com, Sony plans to allocate a staggering 60% of all PlayStation 5 development spending to live service games exclusively for the year ending March 2026. It repeatedly says entire and all. I wish I could spend 60% of my wages on rent and also 80% of my wages on games. But it doesn't work that way. When you are looking at the entire and all of a budget you are talking about the divisions of that 100%. I have to wonder, did you come up with this reasoning yourself or did it come from another hyperfanboy hyperchatfest. Because it sounds like a hyperfan nonsense statement.

60% of Playstation's development budget is going to live service games. This means that single player games have at BARE MINIMUM 60% less investment than they had before considering Playstation....didn't make live service games. Yes the amount of money spent on single player games COULD still be higher monetary value....but it's 60% less than it COULD have been. So nobody is misunderstanding anything chief, only you. Playstation is INVESTING LESS in single player games AND they are increasing in cost exponentially to develop them..... whereas the investment in them has not. End of discussion, don't embarrass yourself further.
