Hell yeah I used to play the same Melek deck 10? years ago that would copy the turn spells off the top and kill you with melek wielding a Runechanter’s Pike or if I was being toxic I’d kill you with Goblin Electromancer wielding the phyrexian metamorphed RunePike. Literally was a commander I won as a prize full art foil with some booster packs for playing standard if I remember right.

It's the new melek, it has double instants/sorceries as power and toughness and reduces your first instant or sorcery, each turn by 3 mana

I'm surprised there wasn't a Rakdos in this game. Maybe it's more high power than cEDH but forcing your opponent to either sac combo pieces/lands or give you cards seems like it would be pretty good. Maybe the fact that it's 6 mana might make it a bit hard to do but we've seen Tivit be successful so I'm not entirely sure.

It’s two separate sentences but all part of the same ability, so by giving the ballista protection from colorless it fizzles the whole thing. Same as if it was done to something like a path to exile.

That would be the case if Ballista became indestructible. Protection makes it an illegal target, so the whole ability fizzles.

Is it possible to dodge Boseiju with protection from colorless? Technically, lands don't have colors at all since they have no mana costs. They tap for a color, but that doens't mean they also are that color.

It can't. This is Giver of Runes, which can. One of the two differences between the two cards. (The other one, aside from stats and typeline, is that Mother of Runes can target itself.)
