@@BravoRox Actually the PS4/Pro/5 version looks better than Xbox. PS4 pro and 5 has 4k resolution (1080p for base 4) and FSR2 fixes a lot of shimmering from the original release. I'm not defending the practice of $50 and minimal changes for a 10 year old game, but this is now the cleanest version of the game.

i think the halo masterchief collection has set the bar for a old franchise remaster collections. you got 6 halo games, 2 of which had the FULL remake treatment, the other 4 full remaster treatment, all DLC's included with all the multiplayer maps ever realeased for all games with comepletely new cross game playlist intergration where you could literally play all the games campaigns or multiplayer modes, the game may of had some server issues on launch, but they fixed it fairly quick and the game has been thriving more than any mainline halo game released since.

Hilarious how we recently got the quake 2 remaster and its quite literally the golden example of what a remaster should be. Updated engine, graphical improvements, extra content(literally well over double the original campaign), updated gameplay, extra features such as the newly added split screen which previously only existed on the xbox 360 unlockable quake 2 that came with quake 4 and to top it off the pc version is free for those that already own quake 2 with the opportunity to still play the original (which is especially useful for mods).

I started playing undead nightmare on my old ps3 I use for playing movies randomly a couple months ago before this was announced and had such a fun and nostalgic experience that really held up and craved a remastered version or at least a way to play it on next gen consoles. When they announced this I was genuinely excited. When I realized it was not a remaster and they’re charging almost full price for it I was really bummed. I guess just have a reason to use my ps3 every once in a while. Just hope it doesn’t break on me.

This year we've seen so many great remasters. Dead Space, RE4, and Quake 2 is just like above and beyond the call of duty like... I was looking in the steam store for the Quake 2 remaster and couldn't find it, and was genuinely shocked when I found that I already own it since I already have Quake 2 in my library. That's something else. They not only made one of the best remasters there is, but they gave it away free to people who already own Q2. Honestly RDR1 multiplayer was one of my favourites, along with GTA 4. As barebones as they seem today (with all the content GTA and RDR Online have), that was a good thing because you made your own fun in the lobbies- also Undead Overrun was a goated mode. Small note for the Skyrim Switch release: I don't know how it's priced on other modern platforms, however, to my knowledge, Nintendo has a pricing policy that states a game's eShop price must be the same as the physical release. Unfortunately, due to the Switch's specialized cartridges, physical releases tend to be expensive, and thus the eShop price matches as well. It's also why Terraria is 60 dollars on the Switch but 5 dollars on the app store. Edit: Terraria's price seems to have decreased to about half that amount, which is great, but it is still more expensive on the Switch than most other platforms.

Something I never see get talked about is the fact that they kept printing the Trilogy Pack for the PS2 some time after 2012, when they started losing a lot of rights to songs. The versions I have are missing all of the songs that were removed from both Vice City and San Andreas, the latter of which lost song rights later on, so these PS2 games are from 2014 or later 😬

That would mean, aside from FIFA 14 and PES 14 being the last "new" games on the system, GTA could very well be one of the last major games printed in any serious quantity for it. For what it's worth, my friend bought this pack in 2018 at a Walmart, it appeared to be the last one, but when I went a few weeks later, it had been restocked, the last time I recall seeing one (I don't shop at Walmart much) was October 2019 when I got my Switch lite.

​@@jakethreesixtyDepends on your definition of "serious quantity" probably, but I remember buying some fresh reprints of Sly 1, Okami, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 around 2014-2016 as well, and I recall Yakuza PS2 games actually got reprints very late (maybe 2018?) due to popular demand and even remember seeing them pop up in an online retailer in my region, though I didn't pick them up. Quite a few PS2 games did receive reprints late or even past PS2's official support. I remember seeing some of the Hitman games also having fresh copies well into 2010s available. Some blue CD PS2 games that got reprints also often changed to silver CDs (CDs, not DVDs) in those cases. Piracy in a vacuum is morally neutral. The immorality comes from WHY you do it. This is why consumer pirates aren't typically pursued to the fullest extent of the law, by even the most extremely greedy mega-corporation there is, Microsoft. Why? Because it'd be incredibly time consuming and expensive to sort out who, why, and what their financials look like. If you literally can't afford it, or are just demoing and don't know if you likenit or not, there is no lost sale, and thus no moral violation. If you do it because the game (or at least an equivalent version) isn't available for sale, no moral violation. However you're morally obligated to buy should circumstances change, no matter how much time passes. If you pirate just to have an extra DRM-free copy to mod, or need a specific game version, but you already bought a legitimate copy, no moral violation. (Speedrunners do this a lot, same with many Bethesda titles) Emulating a game you already own is not a moral violation, regardless if you made the backup yourself or not. It has never has been a violation morally, and on the legal side isn't enforceable anyway. No violation. Stop falling for Nintendo propaganda. If you pirate just to be cheap when you can afford it, that's a moral violation. Same goes for games completed while demoing, without purchasing. Where it starts getting a lot more subjective and grey, is when you protest pirate. I protest pirate Nintendo because their business practices are horrendous across the board, despite producing far better games than the EAs/ABKs of the world. There is no moral consumption of Nintendo products beyond piracy IMO. But someone with a Pokemon PFP (or no PFP), a generic username, and a poor grasp of english (AKA, a child) will eventually show up to vehemently disagree with me. I know people protest pirate over DRM in general. Personally I don't agree unless said DRM is actively damaging the gameplay experience (like Denuvo's virtualization based variants), but I know people who would proudly die on that hill no matter how mild the DRM is. Lastly, I don't think true indie games can morally receive the same treatment at all, but I know others will disagree.

@@KiraSlith no, pirating new games or games that are still sold by the publisher is always morally wrong, all pirated games are stealing, because the publisher never receives any money from the sale, it's theft, not the same as second hand games, if everyone or most people pirated then the industry would collapse through lack of profit, therefore pirates literally exist because of honest paying customers, what you're saying is like saying "I have already bought this T-shirt so it's okay if I go in and steal another one" or "I'm too poor to buy this Rolex so I'll just steal it" stealing such things is never morally right, theft is only moral if done for moral reasons, like hunger or the person you are stealing from is bad and you are stealing to help people, like robin hood.

I don't think there's anything wrong with porting old games to new consoles and selling them again. It just makes them available for a broader audience, and it's good to not need a lot of different consoles to play different games (ik PC exists, but still). My problem with this is just the pricing and lack of features. $50 for the game without multiplayer? That's just ridiculous. I wouldn't pay $50 for a newer game with all the features working.

So many great gaming companies have fallen from grace. It’s a real shame that it’s more profitable to go all in on microtransactions. I’ve never supported those types of business practices personally. I remember when PS Home came out the idea of using real money to buy in game cosmetics was laughable. These major game companies have completely normalized this, especially to younger players.
