Tbh Giyuu's reaction to shinobu's death hits deep for me, because giyuu is such a sad lonely emotionless character and even if he didn't love shinobu, she was definitely his only friend :-( it's a fate more tragic than Iguro and Kanjori's...at least they died together and got reincarnated and reunited....Giyuu is now truly alone.

I agree. Shinobus death had impacted Giyu when almost no one else's death had. When Rengoku died, Giyu showed no emotion and just said "understood", but when shinobu died, his face changed to a look of shock and what I would describe as anguish. Shinobu may have teased Giyu a lot, but they did care for each other and did like chatting with one another, as Gyomei stated

Fun fact: when shinobu’s passing was announced Giyu immediately thought of her smiling. With that picture in his head he was saying “why wasn’t I there to protect you” and more signaling that he really cared for her. Also Giyu didn’t show this much emotion to any other hashira’s passing only shinobu’s. Meaning that the ship is half ish cannon coming from both perspectives. (Coming from a giyushino shipper btw ;) ❤️)

I think Giyuu and Shinobu's relationship is the exact example of what could have been there was much potential, and chemistry between the two if you guys read the manga you can see that Giyu doesn't really mind hanging out with, Shinobu, and vice versa also, in a way they are kind of similar they both lost a loved one, and had to remain strong for their life to continue.

IMO Hashiras were too focused on their duties to consider romantic relationships. Even Obanai and Mitsuri who obviously had feelings for each other shared very little time together (compared to what we modern people consider dating). It's the rarity of those moments that made them precious. Also, Giyuu and Sanemi eventually found their respective wives. I'd hate if they were treated as replacements for the Kochou sisters.

The light novel kind of explores sanemi's feelings towards kanae (the chapter of masachika and sanemi's mission). But sanemi being overwhelmed with trauma had a lot of trouble sorting out his feelings but he did blush after all from his meeting with kanae. And of course, Gyomei spilling the tea and them being always together in the KNY junior academy series. Chapter 1 of vol 3: Signpost of the Wind In the kimetsu academy tales in the light novel, tengen was kinda flirty with kanae considering he has 3 lovers (i think he's not yet married in the au series). 😂

Obanai and Mitsuri are definitely my favourite. Mitsuri was already my favourite hashira due to her backstory reminding me of myself- (thinking of myself in regards to others). I absolutely _love_ the ship dynamic of a cold, hard, guy being completely smitten for his adorable loving girlfriend who is savage in her own right. It's truly star-crossed lovers rather than one-sided love and crushes, and it makes it even more painful that they die in each other's arms after confessing their love

I mean you totally should call demon slayer a love story.... Just not a traditional one. A man loves his family so much he defies the odds training for years after everyone else would've quit just for a chance he might kill a demon, every demon(except maybe the first 2 or 3 and others tanjiro isn't present for) has a love story(love of writing, love of family, love of play, love of self, etc) denied. The story of love and it's power to destroy and heal is all over this manga/anime by people who seems to love both this art style and the medium/s. It may sound corny, but as inescapable as the conclusion should be the Mangaka made it just subtle enough not to force the realization on people and let the art grow on you without the stigma that genre can garner. That's how this series resonated with such a broad audience so quickly.
