Check out the setup of the James Baroud tent and 30 Second Awning on this Stockman Pod Trailer Extreme. This is a fantastic setup for touring trips where you are stopping each day and want a quick setup and backup. We used this Pod Trailer recently on a 10 day trip to the Australian Outback and it was awesome to be setup within minutes each night. See my other Pod Trailer videos for a walk around on the trailer and the other upgrades I've made.

Nice setup mate. What’s your approach for getting in and out of the JB when it is raining? Looks like your ladder is exposed.

Cheers Brett for you great video, it’s the first I’ve seen showing the awning bracket in use. how high do you reckon the awning goes up? I’m on the tall side 😊
@iLuvDirt
@iLuvDirt Жыл бұрын
It’s goes up a really long way and you could put extra holes in it to lock it in place at a higher level.

Hey mate, what is the weight limit with the RTT directly on the lid of the Pod? I😅 wanted to do the same but thought there was only like 50KG allowed this way? Cheers
@iLuvDirt
@iLuvDirt Жыл бұрын
Weight limit goes up with the Stockman reinforcing braces etc. Their website says load rated to 80kg moving with their rooftop tent lid upgrade.

Thanks Brett, I'm eyeing this tent for our setup and have a similar awning. Quick question: the gap left at the back of the pod between tent and awning is something I'd like to solve as we have a pullout kitchen and would be rained on there. Could the JB tent window there somehow be used to block rain coming in or would you recommend a different solution? Thanks!

I’ll be solving that one too. All my other camper trailers use a piece of canvas as a gutter between the awning and the tent. For this setup, I’ll likely put some sail track on the back of the JB and use that to secure the gutter on that side. I’ll post a video once I sort it out.

Hi mate, how much for awaning setup ? I do have trailer master pod trailer ,I just want to put 270 degree awaning on trailer.

The Awning is a 30 second awning, see here: 30secondwingawning.com.au/ $1200 for the awning. Stockman sell a an Awning frame that goes onto their trailer - maybe Trailer Master have something similar - see here for Stockman pricing - podtrailer.com.au/pod-trailers/extreme-off-road/extreme-pricing/

Thanks Brett, how is the James Baroud mounted? Directly to rhino racks on the stockman bars? Or to a platform? Or to floor support beams spanning the rhino racks? Looking for options on how others have attached RTTs to Stockman Pods, as heading in similar direction.

I have the Stockman reinforcement frame in place and the upgraded struts for inside the lid to handle the extra lifting weight. And then there are Rhino aero bars attached to the frame, and the tent is mounted to the aero bars as it would be on top of a vehicle.

@@iLuvDirt thanks Brett, so no additional floor support needed for the floor of the JB in between the 2 rhino crossbars? I’m told the Bundutop needs additional floor support hence all the Qs. Maybe I should look into the JB as an alternative option 😄 Also, on the Extreme, with your setup, what is the height from ground to entry point (climb in height) on the JB? If you could be bothered checking some time? 🙏

No additional floor support needed for the JB. Not sure on the Bundu - I'm still looking into these for my DOT trailer. They are longer and heavier, so maybe they need a third cross member, but I'm not across that. I will get a height for you!

Brett, just curious as to how many different campers you own? And do you still have the DOTs?
@iLuvDirt
@iLuvDirt Жыл бұрын
At the moment, I have three campers! Yes, I still have a DOT6, and I did a walk around video a few weeks ago on the recent improvements to that one. The trailers serve different purposes and I’m going through the process of tailoring them further for remote touring!

I’ve just had the 30 second awning fitted to my Pod trailer by Stockman. The awning is quick to deploy and re pack, however getting the gas struts and lifting sleeves back down is really difficult. Took me almost 20 minutes on my own, which defeats the purpose of the quick awning. Seems this may be strictly a 2 person job with the mechanism stockman uses for the gas assisted lifting struts. A real disappointment. Have you found a way to do this efficiently, alone?

I’m still working on it. I will find a way…
@surfinwaves4769

@@iLuvDirt I think I’ve found a solution! I used a small ladder to repack the awning (it’s higher than I can reach when fully deployed), then put a ratchet strap over the zipped up awning bag and hooked the ratchet onto the side bars of the pod to give even tension to the centre of the awning. While ratcheting with one hand to pull it down and pushing towards the pod a little with my other hand to centre the lifting sleeves in the supports it slid fairly easily into place and I could secure it using the parts supplied by Stockman. I did it twice in a row to be sure. 👍👍
