I had never heard of them before, but now I want to hear more, more, more! I was also excited to hear about their history with Remedy games - which I am intending to play shortly (Control is the first Remedy game I've played much of). Interesting contrast from False Kings' imagery where False Kings focused on the outward appearance and the right side of the face while the scarred half would show up here and there, but this focuses on the left side of the face with the white eye/scars and rarely shows the other half.
@LaurenRichardsEvans4 жыл бұрын
It is a political and religious symbolism. Blindness in the right eye symbolises the blindness of right-wing ideologies; false kings are afflicted with wealth, capitalism, corruption by money. In a religious context, it is blindness by believing they are acting in the name of God, even if their actions harm innocent people. Blindness in the left eye reflects the blindness is left-wing ideologies, which extend out to national socialism and communism, where they controlled by people in censorship, and what is said in the mass media about them. In a religious context, antitheism is as equally destructive because it spreads hatred against anything different, similar to literalist religious person.

Night, the world, it's mine, with nobody else out here It's time, run wild and royally cavalier To burn, ignite, I'd do it for so much less When all is made clear there is nothing else And here we stand, the sweet arresting duality And I come to, it's resin all over me Will I awake, will I get a ride with you In this race of two We're an endless stream of choices We're the softest murmur of voices Without names we're fantasising Dancing like flames, mesmerising My dark disquiet playing such eerie harmonies Making waves and diving under Lightning to the sound of thunder My dark disquiet singing such haunting melodies So white, so still, so bright, it's almost too painful now I'm ready to fight, to run from the light And here now comes the sweet corrupting reality While now I'm free, will I once cease to be Will I awake, will I get a ride with you In this race of two We are momentary masters We're false kings and bastards Without names we're fantasising Dancing like flames, mesmerising My dark disquiet playing such eerie harmonies Making waves and diving under Lightning to the sound of thunder My dark disquiet singing such haunting melodies We are marionettes by strings animated Yet like lovers of strings liberated Without names we're fantasising Dancing like flames, mesmerising My dark disquiet playing such eerie harmonies Making waves and diving under Lightning to the sound of thunder My dark disquiet singing such haunting melodies Brothers by blood separated Marionettes animated Lovers of strings liberated

Allusions I noticed: 1) The phone (which is quite obvious yet kinda satisfying) and whole video as an allusion to Contol Remedy. 2) Marko's make-up like in False Kings but upgrated. 3) Jari's and Marko's outfits including the rings like in Choice Millionaire (or ChoiceMillionaire-ish). 4) Marko's moves and some sequences of shots like in Drama For Life. 5) The dancers are... from Coraline? Is it an allusion to Neil Gaiman's story? I'm not sure about that one. 6) The dancers also reminded me of Carnival of Rust. 7) Jani standing there alone reminded me of Cradled In Love video. Maybe I'm wrong. If you've noticed more - add your comments. It's soooo exciting to see more easter eggs :D

(I was hoping it would be because of the "false kings and bastards" line) Also whoever was in charge of editing did AMAZING because that smashed mirror @1:09 was so perfectly timed I jumped, and then that "hahaa" fit so seamlessly into the song that I questioned if it had been there the whole time. Like seriously good timing and flow. Wowza.

I am so happy to have discovered this band. It's incredible and this song really has a good beat and addictive, rhythmic chorus that draws me right in.

I listened to this all the way through inside the acoustics lab. Increasingly shocked at how much I was truly enjoying a "videogame song". My girlfriend walked in and I stopped her to listed with me. In her words, "I could have a lot more of this!"

Lyrics: Night, the world, it’s mine, with nobody else out here It’s time, run wild and royally cavalier To burn, ignite, I’d do it for so much less When all is made clear there is nothing else And here we stand, the sweet arresting duality And I come to, it’s resin all over me Will I awake, will I get a ride with you In this race of two We’re an endless stream of choices We’re the softest murmur of voices Without names we’re fantasising Dancing like flames, mesmerising My dark disquiet playing such eerie harmonies Making waves and diving under Lightning to the sound of thunder My dark disquiet singing such haunting melodies So white, so still, so bright, it’s almost too painful now I’m ready to fight, to run from the light And here now comes the sweet corrupting reality While now I’m free, will I once cease to be Will I awake, will I get a ride with you In this race of two We are momentary masters We’re false kings and bastards Without names we’re fantasising… We are marionettes by strings animated Yet like lovers of strings liberated Without names we’re fantasising… Brothers by blood separated Marionettes animated Lovers of strings liberated

It's been at least a year since you've posted your comment, but if you haven't played Alan Wake yet, I really recommend it. It's a game that shares universe with Control. Poets of the fall made music played by an ingame band in this game.

Kiitos, thanks, tack. muchas gracias, danke schön !

Curious to see what they will associate with this song. I have always seen it as a part of continuum between Daze and False kings. Cannot wait regardless what happens, it is my fav piece from the album

It's taken inspiration from the game control which this song is in and the alter ego version of this band also did a song

You are right, the phone is a giveaway. However, I think this has some connections to other POTF production as well, not only to Control:) that is what I meant. Of course it makes sense they connected the song and the game together

@@pk2237 Yeah, when they perform as PotF not Old Gods of Asgard for Remedy games it's because there is an overlap of purposes. You can quite clearly see this with the plot continuation between the videos for Dreaming Wide Awake and War.
@pk22375 жыл бұрын
@@chiffmonkey Yes, that is correct. OGOA and POTF are seperate. What an interesting point of view you have regarding the storyline, would you mind to elaborate? :D As stated above I see the storyline differently but hey, that is what makes art and music so fascinating! There are as many interpretations as there are viewers/listeners to each piece, and I love it

This is my favorite band! Now I know it for sure! After all, no other voice appeals to me so much positive emotions and so much warmth. No, seriously, I seem to be listening to some kind of dear person whom I love very much. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the songs of this group are with me, starting with Max Payne, ending with Control, but i think it's because Marko. His voice seems to have light, kindness, simplicity.. I think, he is good man and this is reflected in his songs. I hope that everything will be fine with you guys and you will always be happy and continue give us happiness!

Brilliant video! I love how everything's connected - this feels like it's part of the same world as False Kings, Daze, Choice Millionaire, Moonlight Kissed and possibly a few from the Twilight Theater album. I'm still figuring stuff out. That's what I like about Poets - you listen and enjoy the songs as a whole first, then start searching for deeper meaning and cryptic clues in the videos.

I just wanted to pop in to say, that ever since I found you guys 8-10 years ago, whenever I’m feeling low, and melancholy, I always end up listening to you lovelies’ songs; and everything feels ok for a few minutes. Thank you for that.
