Thanks for the info as usual. Still no idea about the longer rear torsion spring kit and possible shock valve adjustment? I’m getting my new sled soon a have to get heavy duty springs but I’m considering the Long kit option if it’s simple. Very interested in the overall ride difference. Thanks 😊

I did not realize they made the XC in a 146. Are the back of the rails tipped up as well? Thanks for the walkthrough and info. You guys are a great source of info. Keep it up.

Good to know. Makes for a little cheaper option for someone who isn’t a super aggressive rider, but wants to get off trial occasionally

I realize the two models use quite different shocks, but no one talks about the valving. Are they valved similar, or is the XC set up for a softer more plush trail ride? I've heard lots of people find the Assault rear suspension to be quite harsh in the small chatter bumps.

just due to the "riffle Bore" in the body of the fox they will be more plush. the assaults are not really harsh (in our eyes) but the XC 146 will be a softer more plush ride

As far as cornering, is the XC easier to corner in the tight stuff, or do you still have to work it to keep the inside ski down?

They’re both standard duty.

The lower spring mounts on the rear springs are different as well. XC runs a steel mount, whereas the Assault runs an aluminum mount.

Looking at buying a used '22 XC 850 137'- after weeks of research and asking around I keep getting different answers on the engine durability. Is it realistic to get 10,000 miles + on the motor ? We are talking trail riding and some lake fun. Nothing like those mountain guys do lol

i mean there is no real answer here as there are tons of variables. i personally would rebuild every 5K but i have seen engines with 10K still going strong. theres not a black and white answer for your question unfortunateky
