does not look like these plates are listed on there site now, might wanna check they may have moved on from the product

Correct, they scrapped this project a few months ago. They were OK with me posting the video, so here we are :D

These were ok plates but we wanted more edge to edge ceramic coverage and better lamination (exactly what pointed out in this video). But the manufacturer didnt want to improve the design for such "small" order

Would be epic to see that 6.8mm xm1186 projectile tested next. I wonder what the load spec is supposed to be?
@BuffRANGE13 сағат бұрын
Supposedly 3,150, but I am not sure if from the 13" or 17.5" barrel. The same catalog rates RRA at 3,135, and I'm getting 3,250+ from the 16" so I have to guess that's from the 13 then. I've pushed a couple samples to 3,100+. Just need a test subject..

@BuffRANGE just wondering, how heavy is the bullet for the 1186 load? 3150 seems fast

@@GD-lw9yv The samples I have, which I am told are not the latest iteration, are 120gr.

I would like for You to answer a question for me. I watched a series of videos from a content creator, who specifically referenced Your channel. The videos' author stated that the core of the projectile is not what passed through the steel, but was a piece of the steel displaced by the core of the projectile that caused the damage. I have subsequently watched several 3-D animation videos, AP rounds versus steel and a few of Your videos, none of which made reference to the steel from the plate replacing the core as the projectile. Today, I watched one of Your videos where you targeted into armor backed by a gel block. As you examined the gel block, you said "...there is the core." Which, in and of itself, answers my question. But, I will ask the question anyway. In Your experience, does the core of an AP round not go through the steel, but pushes a piece of the steel out and that is what travels through. Or is it the core that breaks through the steel and travels into the target? Thanking You in advance.
@BuffRANGE13 сағат бұрын
Do you mind sharing who that creator is? I do believe the term is called plugging. Where in the material fails and is piece of the steel is pushed out the back. Depending on the MASS of the projectile some of that most certainly can continue through the hole it just created. With AP ammo, that core, again depending on shape and length is most likely going to continue through the hole along with the plug.

hi Matt, many thanks, could you please consider testing plates with modern Russia ammo like: B32 API 7.62x54R (NIJ IV should stop it) and 7n10 5.45x39 (NIJ III+ should stop it)?
@BuffRANGE2 күн бұрын
I have no ability to access any 5.45 ammunition beyond 7N6/M. 7.62x54R B32 has come absurdly expensive by collectors and overall is LESS effective at personal armor penetration than M2AP. Mainly due to lack of velocity..

He uses WinMag to get the velocity for the 30-06 rating without overpressuring 30-06. Those weren't WinMag velocities.

Typical of Chinese hexagon array plates. The backing material was the winner in this design..
