You shouldn't need to "show respect" just so you don't have to fear for your life. Respect is a courtesy. Th guy who was hit had a right to sit there if he wanted. Even if it was to make sure the police guy isn’t let off easy. With no repercussions. He wasn’t just a bystander hanging out in a parking lot. He was involved in the accident. I’ve been in an accident and everyone stayed around until everybody was done and dealt with. I could be wrong from a legal standpoint, but it looked like an unnecessary show of force. And I’m behind the blue, I respect and back leo. On an individual basis as it’s called for.

‘Birdie’ was almost off the hook because of the arresting officers willingness to offer the insurance exchange option to the victims, which is highly unethical. At 18:20ish Birdy shared a message with Sgt. Sanchez on his phone and then he repeated his excuse: “Tired and pissed off”. When they arrived at the station, Birdy suggested something to the officer and she responded “I can’t do that”. Besides his saying she was doing the right things, he tried repeatedly to manipulate these officers. No bueno. I’m glad they took him in although begrudgingly. It’s still upsetting to see this preferential treatment. The victims couldn’t have been nicer and I hope the driver wasn’t injured as it DOES take a day before you feel the injuries because of shock. I’ve been there. He was hit HARD. 😠

I agree. I might be wrong but I didn't like how the female officer treated the driver of the other car. Told him to back up and give her space and she didn't want to be around his cigarette smoke yet when the drunk officer lit up his cigarette there was no mention of anything. And then the other female officer wanted to get the victims out of there like they didn't have a right to be there or something. I didn't get that. Anyone in the whole world could have stood there and watched the dui tests and arrest. That's their right. I don't think they were super nice to the guy and his family who was hit.

While it is understandable that the presence of double standards can be frustrating and contribute to feelings of distrust, it is important to approach this issue with nuance and consider different perspectives. Arguing that all double standards are universally "disgusting" and solely responsible for increased distrust in the police oversimplifies a complex issue. Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that double standards can exist in any profession or societal context, and law enforcement is not exempt from this. However, it is crucial to address and rectify these double standards rather than generalize them as representative of the entire police force. Not all police officers engage in or support double standards, and many work diligently to uphold justice and fairness in their duties. Additionally, it is important to recognize that public perception of the police is shaped by various factors, including media coverage, personal experiences, and social movements. Distrust towards the police is a multifaceted issue influenced by incidents of misconduct, systemic issues, and historical contexts. While double standards may contribute to the perception of unfairness, they are not the sole factor responsible for the current level of distrust. Furthermore, it is crucial to highlight the efforts within law enforcement agencies to address these concerns. Many police departments have implemented reforms, training programs, and accountability measures to address issues of bias, misconduct, and double standards. It is essential to acknowledge and support these positive steps while also advocating for further improvements. Lastly, it is important to promote dialogue and understanding between communities and law enforcement. Constructive conversations can help bridge the gap, build trust, and address concerns effectively. By fostering open communication, promoting transparency, and encouraging community involvement, we can work towards a more accountable and trustworthy police force. In conclusion, while double standards within law enforcement can contribute to feelings of distrust, it is essential to approach this issue with nuance and recognize that it is not the sole cause for increased public skepticism. By addressing and rectifying double standards, promoting transparency, and fostering constructive dialogue, we can work towards rebuilding trust between citizens and the police.

What double standards? She didn't treat the victim any worse than her Corporal, but naturally the way she speaks to someone she knows personally is gonna be different than how she speaks to a stranger. Other than not wanting to cuff him, she did absolutely everything by the books Using words like "disgusting" only shows your projected bias. I understand that you've never been put in a position where you had to arrest your boss, but it's unfortunate that you can't at least sympathize with the situation. The arresting officers would have to be sociopaths to not show compassion for their Corporal. Is that what you want? Sociopathic police officers? Probably not, right? You probably want understanding, respectful but firm officers, and that's exactly what we just saw.

While it is understandable to feel frustrated or disgusted by certain aspects of a situation, it is important to approach the analysis with fairness and avoid jumping to conclusions based on limited information or personal biases. It is crucial to consider multiple perspectives and gather all relevant facts before forming judgments. Firstly, it is important to remember that legal processes and investigations are designed to ensure a fair and thorough examination of incidents. Labeling someone as a victim or an offender without proper investigation can undermine the principles of due process and presumption of innocence. It is essential to allow the legal system to determine the facts and assign appropriate responsibilities based on evidence. Secondly, passing judgment on an individual's character or motives without direct knowledge can lead to misunderstandings. While it may seem evident that someone is intoxicated, it is important to wait for official reports or conclusive evidence before making definitive statements. Making assumptions or accusations without concrete evidence can be unfair and potentially damaging to all parties involved. Furthermore, it is crucial to recognize that discomfort or unease expressed by an individual, such as the other officer in this situation, should be considered within the context of their professional responsibilities. Police officers often have a duty to prioritize public safety and manage potentially volatile situations. Expressing discomfort does not necessarily equate to dismissing the actual victim's rights or minimizing their experience. It is important to understand the complexities of the roles and responsibilities of law enforcement officers in such situations. Lastly, acknowledging the calmness and respect displayed by the person who was hit is commendable. Demonstrating composure in challenging circumstances is admirable, and individuals who handle themselves with dignity deserve recognition. However, it is crucial to avoid making sweeping generalizations or assumptions solely based on one individual's behavior. Each person involved in an incident may respond differently based on their unique circumstances and personal characteristics. In conclusion, it is vital to approach the analysis of a situation with fairness, gather all relevant facts, and refrain from making definitive judgments without proper investigation. By respecting the legal process, considering multiple perspectives, and avoiding assumptions, we can contribute to a more balanced and informed understanding of the events, ensuring justice and fairness for all parties involved.

You obviously have never worked as a police officer or in the correctional field. I admire the calmness of the guy who got hit, he did not look at it as an intoxicated white guy running into the back of a black man; so major kuddo's to him. But to your reply about this makes your sick, keep in mind that if you are a good cop and you see your job as a career with your fellow officers as not only colleges, but friends and family, making a stupid decision that causes them to do their job to the point that might ruin your job and your life is personal and rough. If you have never been in that situation, sure you can pass judgement as a viewer but you have no idea as to what they are dealing with personally. Real lives are at stake and a simple mistake is ruining a life. No one was hurt, no one was shot, killed or anything so there was not really any major victim here other than a fender bender. And most people under the influence don't remember 80% of what they are going through at the time, depending on their BA level. So unless you know his life and him as a cop, take it easy.

Yes, I caught that from the second cop that arrived. I didn't like it either. It made me nervous for the driver that was hit--the actual victim and his ride. Of course, they are there because they need to wait for the damn tow. These cops did not inform the victim about what happened, although at a point, it would have been obvious (considering the drunk driver testing failures)! This cop also lied to the driver that was hit in regarding why she approached him. We know what she said, but she told him she was checking to see if he wanted her to call their tow truck. Again, that's not why she walked over there. I didn't like anything about that part.

The officer did ask the other driver if he needed medical attention. After he said he didn't, she told him he had a limit of 30 days to report injuries related to the wreck. I agree it was shady of the reporting officer to conceal that the off-duty officer was potentially DWI. However, at least the other parties were there to witness the field sobriety tests as well as his arrest. Those actions and the outcome should be documented or added as an addendum to the motor vehicle accident report. If it was not, the other party's insurance company can investigate why the information was withheld.

I don't even think she had a solid impression of DUI until after she returned the license and Bertzyk half-ass grabbed it. Of course when dealing with a previously trusted individual, she may have been less scrutinizing at first contact. To say she withheld info from the victims is extremely presumptuous. You clearly missed the 'medical attention' part, I think you should calm down and be a little more sympathetic, rather than being LIVID and jumping to CONCLUSIONS.

The 2nd officer really pissed me off when she said that the victims of a DUI crash were “bothering her” because they hadn’t left yet. Lady, he just got his night absolutely ruined by a drunk driver. Also, they could’ve stayed there as long as they wanted to. One of them should’ve gone over there to film the interaction with the drunk guy, they had to be able to see something weird was going on when another cop pulled up, and then they all start hugging each other. I wonder what would’ve happened if the lady that came over asked the officer if she knew him. Like, would she have lied? Or would she have just said yes but left out he was her supervisor? Etc etc Also notice that the 2nd cop turned off her bodycam when she went to talk with the drunk cop, when they sat down on the curb together. And then every time the original cop came over, she always immediately glanced at her body cam and seemed annoyed. Like “hey go away for a minute so we can gameplan how to get away with this without him losing his job and the victims suing!” Well luckily the victims found out in some way, since they DID sue and he apparently settled. So at least some justice was served. Because him getting suspended and having probation and everything he received but still didn’t get fired, AND not a single thing happened to either of the other 2 officers, injustice at its finest. Just imagine for a moment if the roles were reversed and their cop buddy was sober and the black gentleman was drunk? They would’ve thrown him under the jail and charged him with as many things as they could. And yes, I do emphasize with the horrible situation the first cop was put in. And she DID a lot of good things, like calling for another supervisor and asking about conflict of interest, and keeping her bodycam on. And actually saying that he was showing indicators of being intoxicated. But she treated him like a literal puppy. If the public got treated like that with every police interaction, maybe people would actually like cops. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It is not their job to judge or administer punishment or scorn. On KZbin, the real pro cops are always super nice, and that's how they keep the suspect talking, making admissions, etc. The sketchiest bit is at the end, when he asks her to fake the test. I hope that got reported properly. I'm not sure if it's illegal or not but it's definitely unethical for him to ask.

@norarivkis2513
@norarivkis2513 Жыл бұрын
She doesn't apologize to them because she *knows* she has the authority to arrest them. With somebody who normally has authority over her, she's naturally concerned and not certain about using her normal patrol authority. So she temporizes. I can understand that and I'm not bothered by it. I wish the police treated most civilian arrests more kindly instead of treating the other police they have to arrest less kindly. The problems with most corrupt police is that they're cruel to civilians, or protect police who are.

@aarontooth

Actually I think this is OK. As long as she doesn't let him get away, the nicer the better. The same as every other suspect. You want him feeling good, talking a lot, making admissions, and at the end of the day, the job is to collect evidence and then get him in the jail. Administering punishment, scorn, judgement, etc is not the job of the cops. And I think it's super unprofessional when they try to give their own opinion about how bad the perp is, especially when it makes the perp less cooperative, or makes them clam up.
@norarivkis2513
@norarivkis2513 11 ай бұрын
@@aarontooth Agreed. The purpose of the police is to deliver both the suspect and the evidence against them, in a nice, neatly tied package, to the courts. Punishment isn't the job of the cop; it's the job of the court. The cop just needs to control the suspect so they won't hurt anyone else or get away, and find out everything they can, so that whatever evidence there might be against them is readily available to the prosecutor when it's time for trial (or settlement conference). That being the case, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. We see police being extra friendly with suspects in order to melt their guard down and get them talking all the time! It's a routine part of investigation.

I noticed that too. The cop said she 'didn't like that they were there' but I'm sure the victims didn't like the fact that these cops are all trying to cover for their drunk cop that plowed into someone. If it were a civilian that ran into a cop drunk, this video would be completely different. Cops are the biggest hypocrite liars.

That is exactly what I was going to comment lol. I got rear ended by a female cop one time, it was so hard it knocked my hat off and she just pulled over and sat in her car I stayed in my car for like 6 or 7 minutes Then I finally got out and went up to her she just stayed sitting in her car crying, it was bullshit cuz I wanted to treat her how they would have treated me but the crying probably made me forget about justice. Her car was totalled and I was driving a van and the damage was just a dent about the size of a softball.
