Halo Infinite is coming out... Halo Infinite is already here. On July 30, 2019, Brian David Gilbert set out to read every single Halo novel. He has finally unraveled all of them, but it's come at a price: No one wants to talk to him about Halo anymore.

@@mikecameron6667 I’m about to start a full fledged immature rant on why this statement is wrong, if you play the games, you realize master chief is a stoic, silent, respectful individual, the show brutally assassinated his character, the show turned him into a rebellious, talkative, shouty moron. But more on your statement, the reason we hate to see him without his helmet is because not only does it disrespect the character and everything he’s been for the past two decades, its also utterly useless and the “emotion” they try to portray is just him being whiny or angry, it’s not master chief. You don’t even need to read the novels to understand who he is, halo doesn’t always need to revolve around him, Halo 3 ODST displayed this perfectly, it made the player enjoy the fresh take on the halo universe and find interest in character not known in the games. The show could have gone with that route, but we got a politically correct, utterly garbage, non canon joke of a show. I’m never going to see it as Halo, it’s a fan fiction set in the halo universe the show writers want, not what’s established, I’m no longer giving paramount my money or attention, that’s one way to destroy my interest.

@@BiomechanicalBrick the thing is that the helmet and extended suit are like a second skin, they’re even more basic to him then the clothes you wear, so of course he doesn’t take it off. Also, it pays off in Halo 2, because the covenant attacked during a ceremony where SGT Johnson told him to wear something nice. Also, of course he has weird Stockholm syndrome over the whole situation, he is one of the main reasons that the humans didn’t lose the war against the covenant, which would’ve spelled death for all sentient life in the entire fucking galaxy. If you were in that situation, you would probably excuse the horrible treatment because you would’ve been dead before retirement age anyways, along with everyone you know and love.

I can't tell you how much I love this, The Fall of Reach was the first book I ever read outside of school at 10 years old. I think the progression of BDG from "funny guy losing his mind from taking things too seriously" to "man haunted by an unknowable cosmic force forcing him to try to comprehend everything on an absurdly deep level" was actually a slow enough build that I didn't even notice the change all that much until the show was over and I started rewatching unrevaled episodes out of order.

To add onto why the K-5 trilogy is so good; they're just fun reads. They detail some really cool concepts and sequences and all of the chatacters are actually quite well-done and distinct. Naomi, the Spartan, especially shines here; she's successfully depicted as deeply damaged and asocial owing to her upbringing while simultaneously forming very quick bonds with her military brethren, allowing for the relaxed interactions and occasional one-liners that made Spartans like Chief so personable in the first few Halo games. Basically she's not a shell, but rather a deeply damaged yet rounded out _person._

Because of this video I completely got sucked into the Halo universe. I just finished reading the Kilo-Five trilogy. I spent Labor Day 2020 sitting on the couch watching all the cutscenes for Halo 1-5 (and cried at the end of Halo 4). It is super ironic that FPS games make me motion sick. I would love to hear BDG's thoughts about the series. I love it a lot and it's been funny reading the end of Mortal Dictata while watching the first half of the season.

dude its been crazy to see people who weren't previously fans get into it after watching this. it made my heart so full to read that! if you play video games (just not FPS) and have an itch to actually grab the controls of a halo game for once, Halo Wars is such a strange, unique little experiment that works surprisingly well. if you've played Age of Empires, you'll be able to figure it out. funnily enough, i believe the first Halo Wars can without a doubt be credited as the first real-time strategy game exclusively made for consoles - and made VERY well! totally shocked the industry that an RTS could work at all. anyways sorry for rambling, HALO IS FUN! hope you're well mate (:

I'm Greg Bear's daughter, and I linked him to the bits of this video that mention his books. He calls it "Very cool appreciation of pure genius!", which I think means he liked it. Bit surreal to see my dad's name in one of these videos, but hey, at least Brian was nice about it.
