so there was absolutely no reason for me to do this, but i was curious about the steamed meat. the game is obviously made in japanese first and then localized/translated into english, which means that a lot of items in games that have an english name may not have ever been intended to have such a meaning. so i wondered if link had actually steamed the meat, since steam is an instruction right? you steam the meat. i changed my switch's settings to japanese and opened up the game. i traveled to a stable where i knew a cooking pot was and made the recipe, which called for one herb of any kind and a piece of meat. in japanese, the item is called 包み焼き肉 (tsutsumi yakiniku), which translates to WRAPPED GRILLED MEAT they never had to steam it and turn it into a grey piece of leather. it was wrapped in herbs and grilled this whole time
@KlutzyNinjaKitty2 жыл бұрын

their reactions to the dishes that just have a LITTLE extra flavor, a PINCH of salt, or a tiny dollop of butter reminds me of the way I would imagine people hundreds of years ago would react when they gained access to these things. It's really interesting to see how excited they are over the weird and sub-par food compared to the literal dubious food

When he flips over the fruitcake in the pan, solidifying it's similarity to a beef patty, that's the moment you can see both of them lose their last bit of foundation. They become broken men just waiting for the journey to end.
