I agree with you. There really isn't a bad one in all of the songs SW has written as he really is an incredible songwriter. Funny thing is that I first heard of PT many years ago. Like probably in the late 90's, but never gave them a listen until a couple of months ago. Now I cant get enough of them and I have gone back through Apple Music listening to everything that is in their library!!

This was the very first PT song I listened to back in 08 and haven't looked back since! And it made it even more happy to learn the guys were really good friends with Opeth, Dream Theater, Haken, and other prog greats. Steven is a damned walking prog library and remixes the more classic prog masterpieces. I have nothing but deep respect and admiration for the man.

Grace for Drowning is imo his best solo album. but he's getting more and more leaned to the mainstream with every album he releases. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own. I'm a Porcupine Tree fan for 20 years now and always loved what he did (ok, only like a few songs from Blackfield). His new solo album will be quite a surprise to us I think.

@@Tintop Grace is great, but Raven for me is my fav. I love even his more mainstream stuff, because it still feels different. Love bone and personal shopper is in itself a fun listen.

The amount of good Porcupine Tree material is immense. I could write a gigantic list here. So I will instead suggest you check Steven Wilson's solo project after Porcupine Tree broke up. Specially anything from "The Raven that Refused to Sing" album. Every track in that album is amazing.

Steven Wilson tracks to listen to (similar to what you've been enjoying): Drive Home, The Raven That Refused to Sing, 3 Years Older, Routine, Refuge. There's heaps to discover from his stuff (first 2 albums are a darker, more acquired taste, check out Harmony Korine though), but there's a starting point.

I think he is definitely talking about an unexpected death. There is a larger narrative here though, one which we never got to know in full. “Deadwing” is an album accompanied by a screenplay of the same name. To my knowledge, the script never saw production. I really recommend listening to the album on your own straight through and this becomes apparent. It’s great fun to tease out bits of the story.
