I'm sorry for your pain & loss. I also lost someone who I loved in a sudden, easily preventable way. I feel like my world ended that night and I'd do anything to go back to her or to have her here, like Lazarus. This song is the expression of what I feel and guts me more often than not. The memories are just so bittersweet. I hope you find happiness, peace, & love in your life and solace in this song.

There are no words to help, but I'm gonna try! I hope you're doing ok (or as well as can be). Whatever you do, don't follow your son down to the valley below. I think that great music like this helps release the sorrow, and maybe time does not heal all wounds, but in my experience it does reduce the pain of losing someone you love. All we really are, is our memories, so I'd say to try and cherish those of your son for as long as the universe gives you leave to be here, because there's a pretty high probability that we don't get another go on the emotional rollercoaster that this experience called "life" is. PS: Is it better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all? Me, I've never had kids and am too old now. So maybe I don't really have a clue!
@lowelindroth70535 ай бұрын
@@richardmcsharry thx alot Richard for your caring words - and what you say is really true. In time the good memories will be remembered the most, now all we can think of is what we didnt to to help him, how we didnt understand he was in such a low place, psychologically. As you say, music helps you deal with the sorrow, listening to good music that hits home makes yout think, and process the sorrow. Thanks again, and wish you all the best.

As everyone is sharing their experience, I want to share mine. Once, I was sitting by the lake one evening and listening to my playlist , alone , nobody around just stillness of the water and silent ripples, some birds romancing in the trees and I sitting on a rock by the lake side. And this song comes on and it never felt so beautiful to hear this song , I was connecting to every line and every word. It felt so special and quite a subtle sweet experience. Something I would not want to overdo and ruin the taste. From that point on , I never listen to this song to keep that experience and feeling safe in my memory and save it for the time when I go to my village ,visit that place again . Lesson from the song: You are on a train and life is a journey ,things move fast and people and places fly by fast. Things which are smaller and closer go by faster and things which are far go by slow , but in time ,everything will eventually go by . You will be sitting by the window just watching them go , you can't stop the train or hold on to things forever. Better if there is someone sitting next to you a family a friend or a partner to share the little moments together, look out the window together and you can do nothing but just cherish your old summer days and your beautiful unaware childhood.

I listened to this song looking out the back seat window of a car into the night sky on the ride home from the hospital after saying my final goodbyes to my mother. 💔 That's been close to 5 years ago now. That very same night, while I was asleep, she came to me in a dream and she described everything from her POV and she made sure to ensure me that everything was going to be okay, then we hugged, said I love you and I'll miss you and that was it. Nothing close to that has ever happened again since. Even from beyond the grave my mother cared enough about me to find her own way to bring me complete closure. A son could never ask for a better mother than that💯. Somewhere in this song is the soul of my mother comforting me through the neverending heartbreak. Thank you Porcupine Tree. Thank you Mom. This was the song that played last year on my phone when I had one of my only highlights last year. Last year I took these 2 girls back home, and I was very shy, but then after I brought them back home, one of them gave me $5 for driving them and the other have me her phone number, a big hug, and a kiss on the cheek. It was a beautiful, heartwarming moment in a year full of sadness, and I will always associate this song with that amazing memory. Sadly though, it was not meant to be, as she never texted me back after that night.
