Also important to note, how safe are the seats. That minimalist one gives a lot of space, but looks unsafe

Yes!!! I just got a front facing seat for my 3 year old and was going to go with a slim seat for more room (I have a Subaru WRX Hatch, do it's not a tiny car, but still) but that seat was SO unsafe looking, I just couldn't. Ended up getting a Britax, yes it's a bit larger but it looks SO much safer, not to mention more comfortable. If I had 3 small children I had to fit in the back seat, I could see why you'd use a super slim car seat but I WON'T skimp on safety when it comes to my baby!

Although, if he gets T-boned in a 911. I am willing to bet that no car seat would be safe enough, but I agree, I would rather at least try and give my kids the best chance in a carseat that at least has met or exceeded safety tests.

Whats the point in a backless booster if the standard seat is first removed. The whole point is that it lifts your shoulders in relation to the height of where the seat belt crosses the childs shoulder, to prevent risk of decapitation in an accident... the video was still useful for me though so do appreciate it, thanks

Also check out the IMMI GO car seat. A lot of Uber drivers have them if needed when they might have child passengers. Very portable, packs up easily and can quickly be installed or removed. The upper harness section can be removed for when children get older and can still be used as a booster seat. Very cool!

Hi tommy, thanks for the extremely helpful video. More of this needs to be on youtube. I quess a lot of fathers driving their dream (again). Question is there a chance you post a video how to remove the back rests? Cause I do think it will give more possibilities for the child seat to lean back a bit more than the (almost) 90 degrees angle the back rest sit now. Good job !
@TommyLGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! So back rests are easy to remove. I do the middle clip and screw between the two backrests and they slide out. I tried it and I would not recommend it. The area behind the seats is not straight and seats will not sit straight at all. You will also hit the C pillar.

really helpful video... Even though I've no kids! I have the buckets, it was good to see how the rear fits together: it puzzles me that there appear to be no attachments for a luggage net on my car ... surely its a bad idea to have the stuff on the back seats flying about. Do Porsche do that as an option?? Also, any tips on how to get the buckets to slide a little further forward for better access?? Thanks for making these "how-to" videos!

You WON'T fit a rear facing carseat in here, no way. I have a Subaru WRX hatch, and our rear facing barely fits. It's gotta be behind the passenger seat bc rarely my husband drives, and the passenger seat has to be allllll the way up for it to fit. It's NOT comfortable, I'm glad I was finally able to switch to a front facing. Lots more leg room, especially on trips!!

I’ll have my 2.5 yr old in the back row (likely going for the WAYB like you recommended) during weekend joy rides and would love to get your thoughts and to be sure I’m making the right choice. Road noise is louder but not overwhelming. I drove an S and it was too isolated and quiet. I do prefer some rumble. You do hear a lot more of mechanical sounds from the engine. Love it!.

3,5 years old should really be in a rear facing child seat. At least it is official recommendation in my country that child should be in a rear facing at least to 4 years.
@Spocksays2 жыл бұрын
it's more of a height and weight requirement. all kids grow at different rates so a hard cap on age isn't as helpful. 4 years is just the average when they meet the weight and height to turn around.
@JohannesJarvela2 жыл бұрын
@@Spocksays Yes as i mentioned. Official recommendation is at least 4 years. Every seat has its weigth limits but most go up that high that they are suitable for average size 5-6 years old. At least in the seats that are sold in northern Europe. No point risking the safety and make the switch earlier than needed only to get the seat to fit in a wrong car.
