We have about 80 years of TV watching in the Western world and our population keeps getting dumber overall. Giving everyone in Africa access to TV will be a surefire recipe for disaster as multitudes get square eyes & fat tummies from watching an endless stream of mindless entertainment to sell advertising for junk food that will make them sick. That is a bit of an exaggeration but still a valid illustration. Some famous physicists came up with the idea that energy cannot be created or destroyed but transferred into different forms which makes the idea that low-powered radio waves that need a power source & amplification to make a sound wave could somehow power a TV an impossible dream. Solar panels turn light waves into electricity although you need a lot of them to provide a house with electricity so trying to get energy from the low-power part of a light beam would require a far greater area of receptor than is shown in the video.
