nice reaction and breakdown jennifer (and great accent)... this maybe one of the best covers ever done. haley reinhart especially with postmodern jukebox is incredible. all the other haley/pmj ones are great also: "all about the bass", "habits", "black hole sun", "mad world", "seven nations army", "oops i did it again", "lovefool" and the very recent "don't speak" . i think what is so phenomenal about haley is not just her amazing silk to sandpaper voice but also her character and soul that she puts into the performances. even when she uses very little acrobatics, her pure raw soft voice is amazing like in the intro of "creep". you see this even more in her solo platinum cover of "can't help falling in love" for the extra gum commercial which is truly stunning and frequently described as what love sounds like here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/laaxoXiYqZyqldE

I think Haley is amazing and I don't know why she isn't more widely celebrated. The only possible issue one could have of this performance is that it was more of an exhibition of jazzy vocal technique than an accurate interpretation of the meaning of the song. She packed in so much, each time through the chorus was distinctly different and everything she did was flawless. Her vocals when not with PMJ are not so over the top and I probably prefer them, but there is no denying the brilliance of this performance.
@theblackdog23993 жыл бұрын
Haley is not more celebrated because for years already, she has been refusing to sign a record deal with a big major record label. Hence, no record deal, no mass exposure, i.e., she isn't permitted to perform on network TV and her music isn't permitted to be played on the radio airways. The result is she always remains very obscure and in which also means her career also remains very mediocre at the same time, relative to her world-class level of talent.
@robertvirnig6383 жыл бұрын
@@theblackdog2399 I suppose she has her reasons, but between her and the teenager Angelina Jordan they occupy a style of music which I guess you could call jazzy pop that I really like where there is no one else to compete at their level. It takes a lot of skill and feel for music that very few can aspire to.
@theblackdog23993 жыл бұрын
@@robertvirnig638 Haley's reason, as she has expressed is fear. In addition, Haley doesn't occupy any genre of music. As Haley sings any and all genres of music excellently, and no, Angelina Jordan is not close to being in the same league with Haley Reinhart as a vocalist, a songwriter, a performer, or with respect to their looks. Try again. As Haley Reinhart is a world class talent and Angelina is definitely not.
@robertvirnig6383 жыл бұрын
@@theblackdog2399 I don't know why you felt the need to bash on someone just because I mentioned them, and I wholesale disagree with you about Angelina being a world-class talent. I agree that there probably isn't another singer as sexy as Haley as sensuality permeates everything she does from her looks, singing style, movements, etc. Haley's songwriting is very good and some of her songs would be on the charts if she didn't have this thing about producers. Also, her technical ability is absolutely unrivaled. But you are comparing a 30 something-year-old woman's abilities and accomplishments to those of a teenage girl. What Angelina can do is emotionally connect to a song and provide just the right embellishments to convey the meaning of a song rather than just try to bedazzle the audience with vocal gymnastics. In this song "Creep" Haley is just showing off, little of what she is doing has anything at all with the meaning of the song. Haley can do things that Angelina hasn't yet attempted at 15 but everything AJ does is excellent and she has time to develop further. As far as songwriting, Angelina's limited youthful attempts thus far are good and I'll withhold any real critique for when her first album comes out probably sometime in the upcoming year. In the end, each artist is unique and you do not have to cut down one to acknowledge the abilities of another.

Jennifer, if you are a vocal coach, and you heard this song by her before, there's no friggin way that you would have ever forgotten....it's one of the greatest song performances EVER !!!! People like you would never forget this performance....PERIOD !!!! One small constructive criticism....there is no question that you are incredibly knowledgeable in understanding music and more than likely a terrific vocal coach, BUT when you stretch a 5 minute song into over 21 minutes of conversation, it distracts from the original video. I would suspect that 98% of your audience (a large following, deservedly so) does not need such extend "lessons" on the singers vocals. I DO LIKE YOUR REACTIONS !!

Sorry to disagree, but there are too many reactors that waste our time with their lack of musical knowledge. The better reactors elaborate on their knowledge, and I'm sure the majority of the people appreciate that. The longest reaction of Haley's Creep on KZbin lasted over 30 minutes. Loved every minute of it.

Thank you Jeff 😊 I know my videos aren’t for everyone but I honestly love talking about the voice and I know people do enjoy that element too. So if it’s not for you, skip or move on! Totally fine but I won’t be changing my approach 😊

If you dig this, you may want to check out the duet she did with Jeff Goldblum (yes, the actor). It's simply a blast!

Not a duet per se. Jeff Goldbloom has a Jazz orchestra. Great rendition of My Baby Just Cares for Me. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZrTiXRvoa-tmZI

Haley is by far the best vocalist to have ever performed with PMJ. If you liked "Creep", then you will love reacting to "Seven Nation Army" and "Oops, I Did It Again", which are her next two most popular PMJ music videos. Nonetheless, her newest PMJ music video recorded only a few months ago, which is a cover of No Doubt's "Don't Speak" is absolutely spectacular to say the least.

Yup, definitely the former, the latter is more a question of taste, though - rather less keen on it, myself.

@@gordowg1wg145 You have piss poor taste if you don't like The former's just as much as the latter.
@gordowg1wg1453 жыл бұрын
@@theblackdog2399 a/ You seem confused by the meaning of "former" and "latter". b/ You seem to be confused by people who have differing tastes from you* - while it's not to "my" personal tastes, I don't have a problem with others liking it - why do you have a problem with those that don't care for it? FWIW, it's about the only track of Miss Haley's I'd pass on. *When you grow up you'll realise that some things you liked as a child will no longer be as appealing when you're an adult. You'll also be less likely to use terms like "piss poor" to describe other people's preferences - most people learn manners after being thumped a few times.

When you 1st heard Haley, was it when she was on American Idol in 2012 I think. That's when she rocked the stage with some old classics from the 70's and mix in more current songs from that time when she was on Idol. It's a shame she won't get her just due, because she won't sign to a poor contract with any major label. She wants to do it her way, and rather stay away from the controlling big Labels. She deserves to be a super star in my opinion. She's on that level.
