Hi my friend, you have no idea of the journey that you are about to go on now that you have entered Mylene's universe. I am from the UK and only understand a little French but you do not need to know the language in order to experience the emotions that the audience feel during Mylene's concerts. This clip was the last song of her 2006 concert and her audience are sad because she is leaving them and they may not see her for another four years or even more. I have never seen a singer make grown men cry like Mylene can. Her fans absolutely adore her which you will see when you watch other concert clips. As other commenters have said her concert intros and outros are unbelievable. Yes you should watch the complete intro to this concert. I am very much looking forward to sharing this journey with you.

Maybe next time do: Overture + peut-être toi Mylenium + l’amour naissant or Coming from the vortex + interstellaries The are all amazing, and visually breathtaking entries to her concerts. Her timeless genesis + a force de is also amazing!! Just the 3 before are more of a must. She’s only done 7 concerts during her whole 36 years of career, which is very little. It’s not that she doesn’t do them often because she doesn’t like it or something, it’s the opposite actually.. when she’s performing, you can tell from her expression that she’s truly enjoying it! All her concerts have huge stage budgets (often more then 30 million €), she doesn’t even know if and when she’ll do her next tour either. She has no schedule basically.. she does things when she feels it’s right and when she has a desire to do them? It’s hard to explain really.. but when she does a comeback, it’s always perfect. You can tell she works hard, she’s very dedicated to her career. She designs her shows, adds elements and comes up with the ideas, the concept is her idea, she’s one of the choreographers also. Her personality is very peculiar & different from what I’ve seen. Mylene rarely gives interviews, she has no social media either...

I'm a 36 years old french metalhead, and I have goose bumps every time I see/hear her . In France, she's realy more than just an artist, she's next level, it's hard to describe. The fact that she's extremly shy, you never see her on tv show or anywhere else, she's very very mysterious, it realy makes every of her appearance so powerful

@ooO0VicariouS0Ooo4 жыл бұрын
As a french, we can probably say she's the most amazing french show girl, maybe one of the most mysterious too. She's very very rare, you quite never see her on interviews, no tv shows, no communication, she's got her own universe, very special, dark, poetic, some humour, a bit of provocation. Ok, ok, and of course she's damn sexy... Lot of french people make fun of her voice because it's a whispering voice, but even if you don't like her songs, every french got a big respect of her, because of her shows. Most of her shows are played in the same place, because it's impossible to transport everything, so, each time Mylène makes a new show it's a big big event, made secretly, everyone wants to know what amazing things you will see. She never disappoints she always blows our mind. I was lucky enough to visit one of the set, backstage, during the making of, it was for the Mylenium show, try to check the intro, it was amazing. You can check any intro and outro of her shows you will be blown away. Her fanbase is really special, they are more than just fans (a bit too much for me but I can understand), they consider Mylene farmer as important as a member of their own family. That's one of the reason you can see people cry here...because that's the ending of the show. I'm not the biggest fan, so I think real fan will speak better than me, but she's really really an amazing artist and her shows are probably the best shows from french artist I ever saw.
@rhaelicent4 жыл бұрын
More then a member of our family, I’d say we just have such huge respect and admiration towards her. For me at least, more then anything, it’s about those 2 things. You can tell it’s like that for others too.. with so many years of being active, we’ve stayed true to her & she has to us. Therefore creating a very rare bond on both sides. If she doesn’t want to talk about her private life, we respect it, it isn’t our business anyway. Same for other things... it’s really difficult to explain but we basically feel so connected with her, no matter how much details we know about her life. When she’s doing a concert those details don’t matter anyway, it’s not what connects us. I feel like both us and she forget about those facts actually...

thank you very much for this video, you totally got the universe she puts her audience into. as time went by, she created a very special relationship with her fans (she never calls them ‘fans’ she prefers the term ‘audience’). she’s know as someone very shy and introvert when she’s not on stage. she almost never talks about her private life, and her fans are totally ok with that. the respect between this artist and her audience is just the deepest form of respect i’ve ever seen. she always surprises us with her entrance and her endings, the best entry performance you can find is "introduction + peut-être toi" that is actually the beginning of the concert she ended with avant que l’ombre. she is highly involved in the creation of her concerts. she comes up with all of the ideas and see how it is possible with her team. she’s her own choreographer (she’s helped by another one), she keeps an eye on every little detail. she is one of the most complete artist that has ever existed and i’m glad you’ve discovered her

Welcome in Mylène's world!!! You're probably not ready for what you're about to witness, but if you're on board, we'll be with you!!! First thing of all: try and pronounce correctly her name^^ If most of the american viewers can do it, you can also!! (love you guys in the US ;) ) Now you've seen the end of that incredible concert (probably her best IMO), you have to do the overture "Peut-être toi", best entrance ever!!! She's huge! Unique in her own way. Her songs are beautiful and the lyrics are deep and touching, like this one. Yes, it's about death and dying, leaving the world knowing that you have loved. She's afraid, she tells it, she wonders if she did everything the right way. You can try anything live from her, she's the best when it comes to do a show. She has the money to do things with huge budget because she's the best seller here in France. She's a singer, a song writer, a dancer, a choreographer, an actress, a producer. She can draw, ride a horse... She's perfect. Her music videos are litteraly short films, directing by, for instance, Luc Besson or Abel Ferrara. She loves poetry. You have to see the end of her last concert "L'horloge", the lyrics are a poem from Charles Beaudelaire. And of course, she did THE song which is the song of an entire generation (from the 90's) "désenchantée" : "Everything is chaos. All my ideals are damaged evils. I'm looking for a soul who will be able to help me. I'm from a desperate generation."

Aware that this is the favorite performance of this song for many, the 2009 concert (N°5 on Tour) still has a special place with me. Although she doesn't sing, but when she disappears up the stairs and two large skeletons rise, to the perfect instrumentation, and the stroboscopes begins to flash in red, it becomes incredibly effective 🙏

THANK YOU for figuring out a way to upload this!! I really was looking forward to this!! Also a btw: she actually went to learn acting after a fall she had (her dream was to work with horses before), then she met Laurent Boutonnat who was also a student in the school back then.. he was looking for someone to sing a song he & someone else made, she auditioned and was selected (they also knew her before so that’s why she was selected also) and then it started! So basically it was never her dream or so to even become a singer yet life throws at you things you don’t expect and it happened none the less!
@odoflies4 жыл бұрын
Yes you got the meaning! You can, of course, interpret it very differently.. but my understanding of this ending is that she’s going up the stairs, to give herself up or pay for her sins. She takes off the robe to give up everything she is, as she is.. You can hear slight church bells in the background too.. Another amazing song or so would be “overture + peut-être toi” from the same concert. It’s the opening act of it, and it’s absolutely breathtaking. The whole entry is a show itself. I’d say she’s a very visual artist, much more than vocal.. the whole 2006 live residency (the stage was too complex to transport so it was a 13 concert live residency) is visually mind blowing!!
@thibaultfrancois223 жыл бұрын
This video is taken from the "Before the Shadow" concert series in 2009. Mylene Farmer has 13 shows and started this concert series on Friday 13th. She couldn't make a tour because the show was intransportable. Infrastructure could not move from city to city. I attended five of the 13 concerts and I had goosebumps, I cried every time. You must see a concert by Mylene Farmer once in your life to feel the atmosphere that reigns in the room. One day a journalist said that we were going to have a Mylene concert as we were going on pilgrimage. That's exactly it. His concerts are expected as messiah by all fans. His next stadium tour in 2023, filled up very quickly, prebooking sites were overloaded in very short time. And all of this without any advertising anywhere, no interviews, no TV shows... This is a good example of how the artist has affected her fans.

Her first name is pronounced Mee-Lehn. She is the best selling French artist of all time! She has had more #1's in France than any other artist. She started in 1984 and still going strong now that she's still selling out stadiums with minimum promotion and hitting #1 spots (as we speak, btw) on single and album charts. Her iconic song Desenchantée is the her biggest hit but that is not to say that she doesn't have a lot more good songs. Intense is a good word to describe her art in general. I travelled from the USA to see this show (twice) in January 2006, that water at the end of insane just like the entire show itself. Due to the complexity of the stage, the show was NOT a tour, but rather a residency of 13 concerts in Bercy arena in Paris! Enjoy

Your video is very cool thank you for making it, I love this artist and I like seeing when pple get her and appreciate her work :)))) Also you should watch the whole "Avant que l'ombre...à Bercy" concert (this is only the ending) bc it's so good like the stage is incredible, the opening with " Peut-être toi" and then other moments like " Ange parle-moi " (I don't like this song bug there's something great in the concert) or " Je t'aime mélancolie " (good song even if not the best version + good mise en scene idea again), I don't want to spoil but you should watch it and make other reacts for that one was really cool and pleasant to watch ! Also her other concerts of course :D Like 1989 which is her first tour but allreday incredible (Thierry Mugler outfits, danses, nuns and all) or 1996 (Paco Rabane outfits, glitter everywhere, sexy stuff, giant screen allready at the time) etc etc ;) Ah and of course in France she's very famous for her great music videos, you can check, they were made by her composer/director/probably lover at some point Laurent Boutonnat in the beginning and are like real short films, but also some music videos were made by famous directors like Luc Besson or Abel Ferrara, you could react to the music videos. Anyway my comment is too long, again I enjoyed your video !

Conception of the show here mylene and laurant boutonnat. For me the end is so intense because she think this end with the lyrics of this song. avant que l'ombre = before the shadow (= death) and you see at the end the shadow of the silhouette which fall and mylene who go upstairs (paradise ?). She take off her clothe what that's mean ? she leaves this world leaving her body behind or she 's naked, like a baby and wait the judgment of god or she left all her greed. I don't really know.

Listen to " optimisitque moi" (song and videoclip of the year) " et si vieillir m'était compté". Amazing strings melodies and text. She also is the world queen of shows, entries ans endings are awesome and epic! Don't change anything, you are awesome too! ☺️😉

Welcome in Mylene's universe (pronounced Melane). She is our French queen of the pop. You should see her debut with the song Libertine and her famous video. Or her incredible live shows, only 7 for a 35 years career. BTW, she gives very few interviews. She is mysterious as Greta Garbo. Well Mylene Farmer is a myth

Oh and her name is pronounced as “me-len” ..many English people/people who don’t know french think it’s “my-leen” but that’s not correct :)

More like Mee-Lenn.

@@MH-wr5yj it’s somewhat the same, point is it’s not “my-leen” :) The best option would be to open french google translate and see how it’s pronounced there...

@@rhaelicent You poor thing.... it's "pronounced" exactly as I said. This KZbin is American. So in order for him to "pronounce" Mylène's name correctly, he has to say it the way I said. Simple as that.

@@MH-wr5yj I legit said the same thing as you, just one less e & n. He’s not American, he’s German. And fighting over a prononciation is downright stupid and a waste of time, I don’t get why you even bother

Hey there !'Just saw this video and love your reaction to it. It's a shame that Mylene Farmer is so little known outside the French spekaing area. I may recommend to watch some other live performances of her, especially the one that the person in the comment below mine suggested. Her entries are just BEYOND EPIC ! But talking about intense and emotional songs, I can recommend some other ones for you, that will get you goosebumps and will even perhaps make you cry : Ainsi soit je... (live Stade de France) Nous souviendrons nous (live Stade de France) Pas le temps de vivre (live Mylenium Tour) I just subscribed to your channel and will watch some other reaction videos from you later... but I can only say : Stick to Mylene Farmer ! She is unbelievable and almost EVERY lvie performace is as amazing as this one... but also her video clips are worth watching and reacting to... check them out, please ! Hope to see more Mylene Farmer reaction videos from you... Best wishes from Germany : Gerry

"Enthralled" is the word you're looking for. Mylene (pronounce "Mee-len") Farmer is a mesmerizing performer, always mysterious, a purist who demands perfection for her art. This song, as you understood, is about her fear of death. The ending is her "ascendance", divesting herself of her "skin", read red robe. That's why it's so emotional. She is singing about the end of her life, at the end of her concert, at the end of the road. Mylene only performs live every 7 years or so. So you never know, when you see her, if it might actually be the last. The people are feeling WITH her, in the way an artist touches something profound in your soul (different from the tears of overexcitement for the Beatles or MJackson). Mylene has always shown her fragility, the uncertainty of who she is down to her identity: male or female? Some of her most famous songs are: "Maman a tort" (her first hit), "Libertine", and the most loved (I think) "Desenchantee" (That's the video you should watch next). Nice reaction!
