I am an outside machinist and I fix submarines and aircraft carriers so I get how small measurements have to be. we use all the precision tools (outside mic, inside mic, intramik, vernier calipers, dial indicators, etc). its crazy how you can't even see something but it effects rotating machinery's durability and function and the feel of a big ball valve or if it leaks, (obviously its a big deal on a submarine) even just. 0.0010" makes a huge difference especially on fitted bolts and bearings. I did something last night that required a 0.0000-.00006 clearance. Crazy shit

You guys have a great program.....never miss it. Torrington bearings are the most under-used bearings there are....Bravo! Have built many engines but stumped exactly how you design a cam to favor two-barrel carbs......can you enlighten us all out here with somewhat of an explanation that adds up? Thanks for all you show. The List 4412 500 cfm is a really sweet carb. I noticed that you are using a slotted spacer underneath the carb. I have found that using a 4-bbl manifold sometimes indexing the carb a little forward or back on the manifold can make over 10 hp difference and certainly can balance cylinder to cylinder fuel distribution. I've not reached the end of the video yet...have you tried that?

@toyotabob75353 жыл бұрын
Gas gets trapped between the rings. The only way for gas to leave is down. It's not going up because of compression. Without extra ring gap to let the gas out, it escapes by lifting the 2 ring off the wall. A bigger gap on the 2nd ring seals the motor better. Every ring manufacturer recommends a bigger gap on the 2nd but total seal....

Sorry, But did you just say an affordable form of racing?!?! 😳😂 You have LOST your mind Sir! JUST One of our Super Engines cost 50K, a Crate engine can even cost you 15K or so complete, and a GOOD Chassis, is gonna run you 30K Plus!!! Trust me, There is NOTHING Affordable about DLM Racing these days... 💯
@thephenomenalgarage67073 жыл бұрын
Yeah I see too many videos of people saying the cars are "affordable" but have over 50k dumped into the car and their equipment. Mini stocks or street stocks is affordable racing and even that can get a bit pricey

you can get a gm 602 crate engine for around 5k depends on where you buy it
@tripleeathletics3 жыл бұрын
@@ROSS219PRODUCTIONS You can’t get a “Good” crate engine for 5K anymore. Especially by the time you buy the accessories! You can spend as much on that stuff as you do the engine, If you want to run up front. Look up just what the best headers, carb & a fan costs ya, and don’t forget the engine after it is worked over by a reputable shop… You CAN’T buy a Crate Engine you are going to win a big crate show with for 5K man, it’s not happening…

Why are you guys so conservative on timing? This kind of motor usually likes 36-38 degrees..
@bilbobaggins47105 жыл бұрын
Yeah how does a guy set that kind of advance??? Do I have to buy a strip to wrap around the balancer??? The timing tabs have only 2 4 6 8 and 0

no porting or polishing of the heads is allowed. HOW ABOUT GASKET MATCHING THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST PORTS? LEGAL?
@KingJT805 жыл бұрын
@@Welcometofacsistube and youre not supposed to. it suppose to be port matched. even the edlebrock rpm intake instructions tell you should be doing it. those manifolds on a windsor for example dont even match up to a trick flow 170 and they sure as hell dont flow as much as the head does. its should be flowing more than the head.

Nothing cheap about dirt or asphalt racing I have been racing asphalt since I was 8 and dirt once in a blue moon if you got 20 grand to blow a year on tires and parts for a full season then you can go asphalt street stick or modified racing ut costs lots of money to win races and make no money

Rules like this on the engine are stupid. Better efficiency is good for the engine. Smaller engines lower weight.
