I'm pretty sure the content in this video is already well known for the majority of RL players but the way the message was delivered is top notch. Great examples with visuals and easy to understand. I'm looking forward to your next tutorial.

+ShioN915 Yeah, but I knew I had to start somewhere. With the new Xbox One Rocket League players coming I figured that starting from a topic that was typically overlooked would be a good idea.

+ShioN915 I did know this. I havent been playing for long, but perfecting this is something I really need. So I still think it was helpful. Really well informed and nicely executed tutorial.

Good tutorial, many people who aren't able to play well keep grinding tutorials on dribbling, aerials and high end skills, but tbh all you need is to have a good powershot to keep a good push on the opposing team. Hence these type of tutorials are a little underrated.

Speaking of Hitboxes, I don't know if you do requests for other Tutorial subjects, but I do wonder what the Length, Width & Height of the cars Hitbox affects gameplay. I mean, what players should favor to benefit their playstyle.

During this tutorial I noticed that you either flipped or dodged into the ball on nearly every hit, but that wasn't mentioned as being necessary. Is it necessary for power, or is it just making sure to hit the lower part of the ball with the nose of the car?

You mentioned that certain cards might have some trouble with chip shots due to lower clearance. I didn't even consider hitboxes of the different cars before. What is the best or standard car that people should use?

what is up with late aerial powershots? i played this game for a while now, but i still don't get it.
@DanielVoyles8 жыл бұрын
I realize this is a common thing that everyone should know, but there are no tutorials on how to use the dodge for power shots. I played this game for months before I figured out how to use the dodge to give my hits more power. The quick double-jump (dodge) gives more power than just straight speed does.
@richardlow29477 жыл бұрын
does anyone here bind boost to R1? Logically speaking it is better to have the boost button a distance away from the jump button (so you can press it with something other than your thumb) but it seems to throw my timing. Having boost on R1 also frees your thumb allowing you to air roll using your right analogue, so i am inclined to continue using it, even though it seems really awkward at the moment. Any advice? Sir Timbers, your arials are beautiful by the way.
@sylvernale7 жыл бұрын
Late to reply but I just changed my controls to do this. I felt like it eases my brain to have one important button on the face (jump button), one important button on left hand (boost on L1), and boost on R1. I'd say stick with it, it's always easier to change sooner than later.
@MrCmon1136 жыл бұрын
Of course you cannot use default controls. You cannot even roll in the air in default controls. I have boost on my left trigger.
@snowwalker278 жыл бұрын
Would you say playing on the keyboard puts me at a disadvantage? I made it to challenger but I noticed aerials are hard to control. Is it the same way with a controller? Do I just need more practice in that area?
@SirTimbers8 жыл бұрын
+snowwalker27 I would say yes, you are at a disadvantage if you play with keyboard and mouse vs controller. There are very few high level keyboard players out there and most of them make the switch to the controller at some point. Being able to control your throttle with the triggers is very helpful compared to keyboard where everything is on/off. This doesn't mean you can't become a good Rocket League player without a controller, but I would highly suggest at least trying to get used to a controller now instead of regretting it when you are 1000 hours into rocket league.
@brimroth52388 жыл бұрын
+snowwalker27 260 hours in, ranked @ Rising Star, still play with a keyboard. There is still plenty of room for improvement, but I am planning on switching to a controller when I find the time to make a controller I'd like.

Why don't hit boxes actually follow the outline of the car?
@SirTimbers8 жыл бұрын
I believe early on during the alpha they actually did follow the outline of the car. Psyonix said that it caused too many random bounces or physics issues and they decided to get rid of them.
@ubertoaster996 жыл бұрын
Wow, they should make it more obvious that every car is essentially a brick when it comes to contact. I had no idea!

why you cant sometimes power shot while aerialing?
@angryrollofbread7 жыл бұрын
Epu 02 It depends on many factors, one major one is what part of the car you use to get a hit. The nose is not powerful that the wheels of your car. Also momentum, if you take off at a perfect 90° angle you lost all you forward momentum, making power shots nearly impossible to make.
