The COVID story is infuriating. Either you’re really sick and in the hospital, can’t play WoW, and you have my sympathy; or you have a mild case, are chilling at home, and you can get in line for gear like everyone else. I’d have left this guild the second week they pulled this shit.

At that point in the story, the second some chump got a free pass for having covid I'd have been like "Hey guys, uhh I got covid and like uhh I'm stuck at home" shame too cause he coulda really sold it "working" at home. Solidarity is nice but if no rogues on second “charity run” and 10 players are getting carried why not make it 11 and that one rogue (who has showed up for the other charity runs btw) can gear up and join future charity runs? Like the patience of that guy doesn’t matter? Skip one of the other recruit rogues... that’s the fair thing to do, he gets the spot of the heart cowl guy for that one run and prob solved.

I died a few times on HC N'zoth one day, had quite a rough day and I wasn't even in the mood to raid, but I went off anyway, since "duty called" and "team had to be prepared for SL" (and might I add, nowhere in this was said anything about going for CE or something). As I didn't touch BfA since 8.0 christmass week (school and general burnout by mythic G'huun) I was still doing a catch up, essences, corruption, pure ilvl, back etc., all the good stuff. I had a talk with RL, to "wake up" after that night, I didn't even argue with him, I had better things to do than to argue with RL at 11:30 PM (like sleeping). Next raid night, I found out I was "sitting on a bench", because he wanted to rotate ppl on farm bosses. I was totally fine with it and I didn't smell anything wrong. Next day, he announced guild HC runs were over, than I was benched 2 more weeks, than a guy didn't show up and I came in, we had a talk about "my very big gear problem", next raid I was benched and the next raid I found out I was removed from the raid team without one fucking word. A guy being completly left to rot for his "generosity" is completly believable story and he did not do anything wrong.

Chaoslance yea there’s definitely big management problems there, a guild can easily have some bosses marked as on farm and bring recruits to gear them up fast, my guild did it on mythic with first 4 bosses, core raiders would just sit out (those who did not need the items or just need minor upgrades) and that’s when you are locked out for the week on heroic there is no such problem, a core raider sitting out and coming back can still get that boss they skipped later on. More important than the gear you put the recruit to the test on how they follow commands and perform mechanics, if that is solid gear comes in easy.. Sry to hear that hopefully u find a better run guild :)

I've never been into a mythic raiding group because my pc is kinda bad and my home situation doesn't really allow me to upgrade it, but i can say i have alot of friends who do and they tell me horror stories about their RLs and guild all the time. I think mythic raiding isn't worth it if you don't have a closed group of friends who also have fun meanwhile. That's just my opinion.

As someone who has run multiple guilds over the years as a GM or officer, those guys definitely knew that the Covid thing was a scam, and they encouraged it to benefit themselves and their friends. I can 100% see the officer chat being "hey this Weasil guy is good, we wanna gear him but it'll take too long", then the rogue officer coming up with this demented idea. If you're asking about the sister guild, it's 100% a recruitment ploy. We do that all the time by boosting other guilds "for solidarity", then suddenly they leave their guild and join ours. If you're in an abusive guild, leave immediately. A bunch of guilds will always be recruiting.

That 2nd story...this is exactly why I struggle with playing WoW, even though I'd really like to properly get into the game. I never reached the end-game with a character because while leveling, I get stuck with these toxic players doing everything wrong because they think they're some supreme elite player who can never be wrong. I've been kicked from parties for not being decked out in Heirloom gear, kicked for being a "shit healer" after the tank overpulled way above what he could handle or a DPS decided to pull some extra mobs because the tank was going too slow for him and I couldn't heal the idiot DPS in time to keep him alive, etc. It's so depressing I end up leaving WoW for other games, until I feel like giving WoW another shot several months later, only for the same story to repeat itself.

I Tank 4-5 rnd hc's per day just for the tank bag reward, so due to simple greed I know my hc grps and that was a particularly bad example. On average, you meet guys who are qued up for rnd hc inbetween worldquests while gearing up a new alt. So usually they are undergeared but not incompetent.

That second story brought up memories of my first heroic dungeon in Legion. Was Halls of Valor. I’d just hit the ilvl required and queued up for heroic. We downed Hymdall easily, no wipes before I was suddenly removed. I was shocked, I whispered a member of the group asking why and got told that my dps wasn’t good enough. The expansion had been out for just under 72 hours at this point. So yeah, my dps probably was lower than the other 2. But I’d literally just met the required ilvl minutes before queuing. I never quite understood the reasoning behind kicking someone for having low dps in a brand new expansion when there had been no issues but I guess that’s elitists for you

For 2nd story, you're 100% unlucky. I did a lot of random heroic on my tank to farm Call to Farms (pretty much profiting me ~1000g in around 10 to 15 minutes). To handle stupid groups you just encounters is to LEAVE THE GROUP. Don't try to salvage it. I did that mistake too many times. I recently start gearing up my Warrior, i had to do 7-10 just like preach said because i am a solo player, and that warrior ilvl is pretty low but i am confident i can tank up to 13, but no group want to invite me. The amount of dps that do damage LOWER than my undergeared TANK warrior is WAY TOO MUCH, amount of people that tries to carry their friend without bringing dps to outweigh the carry is outstandingly a lot. The amount of people that fails simple mechanic is stupid. Here how you handle these people : Tell them what to do, if ignored, then leave. Don't try to bother even further.
