How to repair Volvo Alternator regulator 1999-2004

Volvo 1999-2004 Alternator Regulator swapout. These are available as aftermarket units for small change (under $40)
I already had the new regulator in this alternator so that's why I put the new one

2005 onwards has LIN communication instead of L-signal so it won't fit.

Well the car it was fitted to was written off so I'll never find out. As the bearings were spinning without noise I expect it would last at least a couple of years at least. Most problems with alternators not producing voltage are in the regulator area.
