There's some crazy good trivia from this movie. The mud suit sucked so much body heat out of Schwarzenegger that he almost got hypothermia. Also Sonny Landham who played Billy was not just scary and intimidating, but he was actually a menace, they apparently had to get extra insurance and security to protect people from him on set. The wardrobe crew told Jesse Ventura that his arms were 1 inch bigger than Schwarzenegger and challenged Arnold to measure them, which he lost because Arnold told the wardrobe crew to lie to Ventura. In a competition to see who could be at the gym earlier and workout longer and harder, Ventura and Schwarzenegger would one up each other getting to the gym earlier and earlier until they both started to arrive at 4am. Kevin Peter Hall played the Predator, and in a nod to the effort the actor went through and so he could be on screen out of the suit they also cast him as the helicopter pilot at the end of the movie.

As many times as I have seen this, when the scene changes from the red inside the chopper that they use to help natural night vision strengthen to the outside jungle bathed in blue greens just makes my eyes happy, every time.

"They're trying to go in secretly, but I feel like those helicopters would be so loud, like anybody in that vicinity would hear them." If a helicopter stays below the surrounding terrain, it can be quite stealthy. This is especially true in dense vegetation. Heavy foliage will block a lot of the sound, and surrounding high terrain would make it difficult to be certain of the direction of the noise if you heard it. In a situation like this, you would have to practically have eyes on the helicopter to know where it is.

The Predator is on a hunting trip to Earth. His whole purpose is to collect trophies (skulls). For him it's sport, so he has certain rules and tactics. He only goes after armed opponents, so it makes sense that he would go to a war zone. He uses camouflage and trickery to hide from and lure in his prey (his imitations of Mac's "any time" and Billy's laugh are like dick hunters using duck calls). He prefers not to go after females to keep his "hunting grounds" populated. He really cherishes Billy's skull because he fought honorably and was a fine specimen. When he traps Arnie he really takes a long look at his impressive skull. He chooses to fight mano a mano because he wants to make this kill truly memorable.

yea, the choppers land very far away from where they knew where the other one was lost, and because it's a jungle with very high trees that are obstructing the view, if there is enemy in the area it will be very difficult to tell where the choppers are or if there is an actual troop drop going on.

The Predator took off his armor and weapons because he saw Dutch as an opponent worthy of the honor of hand-to-hand combat.

Many reactors seem to not understand that. Not sure if it's relevant, but most of the time it's women. I don't understand, I first saw this as a teenager and the explanation seemed natural to me.

Great Reaction...... Hawkins, The Guy with the "Girlfriend Jokes," is Shane Black who wrote this, Lethal Weapon (1), Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and The Long Kiss Goodnight. In the final fight, the Predator drops his weapons to fight Dutch on equal terms cause he saw him as a Worthy oponent..... Jean Claude Van Damne was originally playing the predator. He quit cause the early costume didn't let him show off his Fighting Skills..... Kevin Peter Hall plays both the Predator and the Chopper Pilot the end of the movie. Predator 2, gives more insight to the Lore/Methodology of the Predators......

Billy didnt sacrifice himself. He kind of accepted his fate and wanted to face death without fear. Cutting his chest is to attract the predators attention and he threw his weapon to face him head on without fear. The predators also preach life of honor and dignity hence why billy was killed with wrist blades. Predator could easly shoot him with plasma canon, but choose to accept his challenge and kill him the honorable way.

I liked the part where Dutch says to the Predator, "You are one ugly m'fer." I got another one of my favorite movie suggestions for you The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.

they are all beautiful, I have put those that for me represent the true essence of Arnold's action films (based on my experience of adolescent cinema. keep in mind that the films in Italy on prime time television came out 3/4 years later) there I would also include Red Sonia (1985) which in Italy, given the great popularity of Schwarzenegger, was released with the title "Yado"

Billy's sacrifice as you call it is Billy a Spirit Warrior's last stand since he believes they will all die. He rips off his spirit bag from his neck and holds it in his fighting stance as he cuts across his chest for two reasons. He is drawing for first blood, not allowing the enemy it, and to show his bravery.
