Premier Plus Room at Premier Inn Cockermout Review

Our first stay in a Premier Inn 'Plus' Room at the Premier Inn at Cockermouth. We have previously always stopped in a standard room, when staying at the Cockermouth Premier Inn, so I do a full review of the room, the additional features you get by booking a Premier Inn Plus Room and I also review the adjoining Brewers Fayre where we had our evening meal and breakfast the next morning.

Nice review Alan. Looks like a pleasant place to stay. Seems like the people on the front lines are the ones that get all the slings and arrows for things they have no control over. Yet they still are the ones that go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Always like to praise the ones that do that in spite of the troubles. 👍👍

What a nice, clean place, with all the necessities in your room. Very nice! That was great that they offered gluten free foods, but it’s too bad the waitress couldn’t remember which food was which. That’s how you learn though. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great weekend! God Bless!

I love the way you introduced your video with the music and recap. The room and linens look spotless and plush. Nice rooms! Love the purple lighting effects for ambience. I am also gluten intolerant, so I have a hard time finding healthy food options when others are cooking my meal. Yes, Mrs Metalman was diagnosed at celiac this year so has to have 100% gluten free food and man it sucks for her, especially as I can eat what I want, so sometimes I feel a bit guilty eating stuff she used to love but cannot eat now. Thankfully she had a great time here and as well as enjoying the hotel, she was able to enjoy the food too. Real nice of you to stop by, cheers Alan

Hello Alan, I like a Premiere Inn, looks a very nice room. I like the expresso machine. The blue light above the bed was very novel and nice that the area smell very fresh. Shame the WiFi was up to scratch. Shame the problems occurred with meals. Lovely review x Take care x Julie and Tony x

Where ever we go on out travels we always look for a Premier Inn first and nearly always have a great stay. The one at Cockermouth is a favourite but this was the first time we have stopped in one of their 'Plus rooms' there and we really enjoyed it. A couple of little niggles but we did not mind. Nice review. Looked like a fantastic place for most of what they had to offer. Very nice. Those breaded mushrooms looked great. I'd love those. Too bad about your couple wrinkles in your stay. My wife and I are also very picky with where we stay. There are definitely some hotel chains that are on our do not stay ever list. LOL. Take care and have a great day.

Oh i like the fridge and the sound of ultimate wifi, nice to see them hanging up your Grandsons artwork! 😂Esspresso machine is a nice touch and the telly is nice and big. @@GENerationXplorers - we initially booked it in advance and it was for April (we changed it as the weather was bad) and it was £35 for a standard room (Sunday night) and only £7 more for the Premier Plus room. Sunday nights are always the best value and if you book well in advance, out of school holiday times or summer times, you can still get a decent deal. :o)

We prefer these plus rooms to the standard ones, didn’t realise you can get plus rooms with baths too, every one we’ve been in has only had the waterfall shower and no bath. Great review 😊

Only stopped in the plus room at Cockermouth and Keswick and I am sure they both had baths. We both love a soak in the bath on an evening but first thing in the morning, I love to jump out of bed and into a shower :o)

Hi Alan good to hear your honest review and nice to see a Premier plus room, good that you get a better wifi upgrade with it too. Love the light on the headboard and the expresso machine and chocolates 😃 The rainfall shower is great and so is the air conditioning. The Brewers Fayre looked lovely and the 3 course evening meal looked great for the extra £2, as did the breakfast. Shame about the wifi and smaller bed and also a shame about the new girl getting mixed up about the gluten free for Mrs M. But good that you would stay there again 🙂👍~ Anna

We all felt so sorry for the new lass that was serving on, it was only her second or third night there and she was working by herself at first and she was great, so nice and friendly, really trying her hardest but there should have been someone there with her all the time until she was fully trained, talk about being thrown in the deep end. Yes, we felt sorry for her too, especially as she was really nice and friendly as well as trying her hardest, so we were not going to kick up a fuss. I’ve noticed a change in some chain hotels that we’ve stayed at the past few years… many of them seem short staffed with just one person working at the front desk. Hey Alan, a great review video. We do try and pay the extra pennies to stay in the plus rooms when we can (money depending ofc), they are much more lavish and comfortable, mind you we're happy with Travelodge or other establishments. Aslong as it's clean and has the amenities you need everything's good! The room here at Cockermouth looks really nice to be fair, they have furnished it nicely, nice to see the toiletries too - it's the little things that make it more I guess hehe! Great that you've got the adjoining Brewers Fayre, the brekkie looked great! With us both being retired now we have to watch the pennies a lot more now, so we tend to use the Plus rooms as a special treat like birthdays and to be fair they are worth the extra money. We were all so sorry for the new lass on the evening when we were having our food, she really tried her best and was so friendly and helpful but she should have had support, while she was still training but no way were we going to make a fuss, not her fault at all. Hi Alan and a fantastic review of the Premier Inn, Cockermouth. I’ve only stayed twice at this particular one and am due back in July. Both times Ive booked the Plus Room (room number 221 each time), and like you I’ve never got the bloody ultimate WiFi to work. I’ve been down to reception and they couldn’t get it to work! However, again like you I’m more than happy with the standard WiFi. When I return in July I’ve booked the normal basic room as I don’t really need a coffee machine, fridge with water, chocolates or a comfy arm chair. I thought the restaurant was very good but limited in choice and last time I finished with jam roll poly and ice cream but got custard instead? Now having just watched this I can’t wait to return. We have stopped a lot of times at this Premier Inn but out first stay there in one of the Plus rooms. The WIFI was not an issue for me so as much as an annoyance, they gave me a code but nowhere did it ask for a code to be inputted. Welcome back and they do not accept pets at any of the Premier Inn hotels, which is a problem for some but not for us. They are normally two story hotels, so not option for anything higher but that suites Mrs Metalman lol. Really nice of you to stop by, cheers Alan

Personally I like the premier inns, you know what you are getting and in many cases they are nicer than some more expensive hotels. If we are travelling anywhere in the country and have to stop over the first place we look is if there is a Premier Inn close by, as just as you said, you know exactly what you are going to get and I like that. We are at the Ripon Inn next weekend and reading TripAdvisor there are some very mixed reviews, so Mrs Metalman is already saying "I wish you had just booked a Premier Inn" - time will tell. Very comprehensive review, Alan, and very fair. I did laugh at your art comment, though that's about the standard I could produce! Internet connection should be a bit priority for hotels as everyone needs it, so I was surprised you had an issue there. The food looked very tasty and like me, no beans!! We got home on Tuesday night, and stayed in 6 different hotels, all very different, mostly ok. Space was the big thing for us as we were living out of our cases as some very so small. You have to listen to your body, Alan, and do what's practically possible. Also, it's all about enjoying it too - no point in being a slave to the wainwrights, I think. I'm going to try and get a bit fitter in the next 2 months, hoping for a heatwave in september. We walked a lot on the holiday, and I want to keep the momentum going. Good to see another review which is always in depth showing the highs and lows of your stay. The room looked really nice, though like you I'm not too sure about the art on the wall though I have seen much worse ! If its clean comfortable & quiet its already a winner in my eyes. The food looked fabulous, well cooked, nicely presented and great value for the nameless person who fancied the extra course haha ... and why not 🤣I totally agree about "head office" never there with sufficient support and not having to face customers with a justified complaint (or several). Perhaps just too many niggles took the shine off what was otherwise a great stay & good to know the brand is consistent with their quality.
