That's 100% what Eddie was known for-- you only see him smiling and having fun while playing. Watching Eddie back in the day and then all of these players came out who looked really angry when they played... I'll take Eddie any day. Like you, I love that Wolfie has the same, kind attitude. (My friends who knew Eddie said he was so kind. So many horrible rumors about him. He was incredibly private.) I'm grateful to Wolfie for doing his own thing and doing it with class and humor!

Massive props to this guy. Not because of his last name but how many people write, and perform their songs completely on their own? He has carved his own path, while having to deflect haters who expect him to be a clone of his Dad, or those accusing him of riding on Van Halen’s coattails. Either which way he’s a tough man to beat, the best revenge is to be successful and let them eat crow. God bless Wolfgang and thanks Chris for another great interview.

I think you meant he writes and RECORDS all on his own. He doesn't perform on his own, he has a hired backing band because he obviously can't play everything he wrote on every instrument on stage at once.

It was GREAT stuff.....Very thoughtful solo which sounds really free & easy the way he plays it....Real MOODY with feel. How his rhythm as a drummer means he knows exactly how he rhythmically places his fingertaps. Did you notice after a lot of his phrases how rapidly he would turn off the volume sustain by suddenly hitting the pickup selector switch on the top horn of his SA-126 ? ....My God, that's a tight operation. Sheer precision.

Just subscribed. Great content. I first listened to The Mighty Van Halen in 78. My cousin brought the record over, and it really captured my attention like no other band I had heard. I saw them live first in 1979 and then seven more times up to 2015. I am so proud of Wolfgang. He has really matured in himself and music. I love how he says, "I don't know what that is," when, in fact, intuitively, he is a master musician. The drummer rhythm he speaks of is pure Dad. He has that drummer beat locked in his head so he understands time signatures. It took me about 10 listens to the song to become brave enough to start learning the solo. I got the tone down, but I was playing in 440 standard, so I had to transpose it. So, this was a treat. Wolfgang also impressed me with his teaching skills and his at ease attitude. Very refreshing. And!! The song actually has a bridge section. It was a brilliant move because I thought the lead was going to start where the bridge started. Keep these interviews coming. Mark Speer ( Khraungbin) is off tour. Please interview Mark. Khraungbin has gotten nominated For an Emmy Award (???). Peace and jams. GT
