This has me thinking about when my grandmother used to straighten/ press my hair with the hot comb. My would put the hot comb on the stove top. And honey you better not jump. 😅😅

My mother press and curl our hair before marcels were available. I guess that was in the last 60s. So it can be done without them.

Marcels were always around. Since the late 1800s. My grandmother used them in the 1920s along with the pressing comb. I used them in the 60s those irons were pointed at the ends and they were small they all gave you tight curls and a beautiful wave when you combed out the curls.

I remember theses days when my grandma used to take me Mrs sister house 🏡 to get my hair done on Saturday morning. It was down half way down my back it’s took a long while for her to do me and my grandma hair for church ⛪️ on Sunday morning thank you for the reminder of my grandma who took me as daughter as they did across the country when parents left their children when their parents who became our parents.

That is not an old school press and curl.. press yes, but curl no.. old school curl is done with marcels.

@@ynshair805 I'm from the old school I don't and never use a flat iron to press my hair and it was good to see a beautician on KZbin showing her techniques with a pressing comb because everyone uses a flat iron and not everyone can use a pressing comb it was okay that she used the flat irons to curl her hair.. the girls came out just like as if she would have used the Marcel iron..

@@valerievanderwood7411 you can actually use a pressing comb to bump the ends of your hair but I wouldn't suggest that if you have any Marcel curling irons you can use that to curl your hair that works better but if you don't have that then go to the flat iron but the old school is to use the curling irons you can't get no old schooler than that
