I'm glad it helped you. The next video I am producing compares 5 render engines in rendering a fluid simulation so hopefully I get some interesting results from that. Good luck on your fluid sims- Blender has come leaps and bounds in the last couple years and I am interested in seeing what other people are doing.

I added the displacement modifier with a texture on my emission sphere, but somehow it doesn't affect the mesh at all... the sphere itself is also displayed as a wireframe in object mode but display settings are normal, what did I do wrong?

Can you please do a quick ship simulation that uses something like Flip Fluids? I have been trying to figure out how to make my large scale simulations look realistic. White water and spray. I’ve tried in Houdini, but I’m not that smart. lol.
@djtutorialscgi6 ай бұрын
Doing large professional level sims simply take a long time. For it to be realistic, you will need to reference other project files from FF for some settings but really it’s a lot of time running the sims then re-running them. If you want more instant results, I know Embergen is in BETA right now with some sim software.

Dear Blender Fluid Guru, I have problem when filling a container and then moving it, fluid just dissapears. It is same as in 'How do I stop the liquid from disappearing when cup-shaped collision object is moving' topic on blenderartists site. Also very often my Blender just crash without error message while cache mesh. I am not shure if this releted to disc space as I do not see any hight space change while baking.
@djtutorialscgi Жыл бұрын
A couple things: 1- join the discord as it is easier and faster to communicate. 2: is the fluid sim area large enough to allow the object movement. 3: is the container set up as an animating fluid collision. Regarding the crash- it depends on a few factors. Open a monitoring software that will show your RAM, CPU and GPU workloads and make sure nothing is capping out. It’s possible you’re reaching the max RAM.

Do you have any tips for fixing the liquid from rendering jittery after you add the mesh to it? I'm doing a slow motion of the liquid and the mesh looks all wobbly as it's slown down. help!
@djtutorialscgi Жыл бұрын
Slow the simulation speed way down like half or quarter speed. Adding resolution can help and also when you render, add some motion blur.
@djtutorialscgi Жыл бұрын
You can also work on the sheeting effect by adjusting some settings. Remember that the manta flow system was originally designed for large scale water sims so doing small scale slow motion is tricky. I recommend d taking a look at the Flip Fluids addon. I have it for bigger client projects and it is much easier to create slow motion small scale sims using it. Only problem is that it costs like $75 but considering how good it is, it’s worth the cost

the displacment modifier on my inflow object doesnt seem to affect the shape of my inflow liquid much. Is there something I can do about this? The shape of my inflow mesh is definitely effected. However, the liquid is hardly affected. I changed the strength of the displace modifier to 10. Still hardly a change.
@djtutorialscgi Жыл бұрын
Did you make sure the select the settings so that the animation for your inflow is exported correctly before running the sim?

I hope its cool but I sent you a PM. It looks really great. Very cool! Do you think a 10th gen i7 with 32mb 4TB SSD is enough to run this in rendering? I do have a NAS but I don't know if the speed of the cable connection would allow for all the content to run via this external.
@djtutorialscgi3 жыл бұрын
Hey- yes you should be able to render and do the full baking process. Make sure that when you render to use the global illumination approximation setting and use around 256 samples and the OIDN denoiser.

@djtutorialscgi2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm…. That would be a pretty specific thing…. Basically for this one I just made a procedural map and animated it so it appeared to be running down the object then piped that into the normal and the glossy/roughness inputs.

Great tips, thank you. I've added an animated displacement on the Inflow object like you've shown. It happens before the Fluid modifier, but it is not affecting the result. I'm still getting that ripple/ribbing effect on the pour. It seems to use the displaced shape, but not the animation of it. Just the first frame of the shape is displaced. Any ideas why this might be happening? Using Blender 3.0. Thanks.
