Well spoken Dr Apoki. I used to have respect for Wole Soyinka right from my university days. But he is like salt that has lost its taste and deserves to end in the dustbin. The former Nobel laurete has metamorphosed to an ignoble laurete. Despite on-going hardship suffered by Nigerian people, Wole Soyinka has no single word of criticism for the incompetent government but obsessed with Peter Obi who is not even in government. It is a shame that even a man of almost 90 years has been compromised.

This question plagues and haunts For in this land of diversity and strife We see both hope and despair in life Shall we remain shackled By corruption's chains? Or break free to soar On democracy's wings? Shall we be bound By tribal and religious divides? Or unite in our diversity And let our love abide? Prof, in honor of your grays Please speak up For me, I want a Nigeria Where justice reigns And every citizen has equal rights to gain Where leaders serve With humility and care And the people's needs met I want a Nigeria Where our talents can thrive And the dreams kept alive I want a Nigeria Where we celebrate Every difference with pride And let love, peace, and unity guide It’s no longer about me what Nigeria I want Before you tag me a fascist Prof, the floor has yielded Bound or free, What Nigeria do you want? Greetings from Gulu, northern uganda my brother. Your verdict on Wole is spot on. He should be ashamed for making such nepotistic comments when he should be leading the government in criticising every wrong thing they are doing against Africans as a whole. I have lost all respect for wole . I remember meeting him face to face at one of his book signing meetings in Sweden many years ago... Because i was the only other black person in the hall, i was excited to meet my fellow African and a renowned writer. But he embarrassed me by refusing to shake my hands, and even to sign his book that i had just bought on the day. Shame on him
@emmanuelakindele37224 ай бұрын
Sorry about that encounter with WS. I am sure you know that's not a representation of who we are as Africans, and that includes the Yoruba Africans of whom Wole and I belong. His arrogance and egoistic attitude can be really annoying. I have met Africans all over Europe, and it's really amazing how we always gravitate towards one another, and greet one another with a smile or a nod when passing by one another in public places. My first trip out of Nigeria was to Uganda where we had a mix of Africans and Europeans attending a training program. Being Africans that we are, we (Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, etc) formed a social club known as Pan-Africa Club. We interacted like we had known one another before the program, to the amazement of our European colleagues. Wole Soyinka's last days are stripping him of all his glories, no thanks to his bad company with corrupt politicians.
