So Pidgeot finally returned to Ash's team... in the very last episode. We won't even get to see its mastery. Hopefully if Ash has future cameos it'll be in his battling roster, or we can see it again in specials. These two evidently share an even closer bond than with the Kanto starters, Pidgeot's been with Ash almost as long as Pikachu.

Pidgeotto was cast aside and overlooked very early on and never given the credit or chance it deserved. It was somewhat annoying that when pidgeotto finally evolved, briefly giving hope that it could finally get the spotlight it deserved, ash releases pidgeot. Hopefully pidgeot will return again.

The third episode when Ash catches pigeotto, I instantly loved this Pokémon when I was a kid. It was a shame that Pigeotto lost some battles because Ash didn’t know better. Up to this day at 29 years of age, pigeotto still has a special place in my heart.

The Pokemon we were hoping to come back after it's released has finally come back. 1:39 if I remember right the manga said many people start out loyal if you managed to catch them but that loyalty can be lost. Pokemon can choose to leave their trainers and go wild or to another if they want to.

@@ProfessorAlexSilver I think the anime never elaborated much on it due to the age demographics they target. The manga is aimed for the older audience. Zombie Psyduck etc and that arbok that was cut in half by a Charmeleon. Their loyalty seems to be that if they are bested in battle they are worth following hence his birds always listen. However if ash were to mistreat them etc they would lose loyalty and eventually leave/could leave. It's also boring from a narrative standpoint if all his Pokemon always listen and the life lessons and what not they add for his training to get them to be obedient.

I am very happy to see that Ash's Pidgeot have finally returned to his team at last after many years of depart from Ash back in the original Pokémon Series. I just wish the same thing happened to Ash's Butterfree and Greninja too and I mean return to Ash's team permitely before Ash and Pikachu leave the Pokémon anime series forever.

Fun facts, in the Pokemon books, not the comic books, there were two that were Original Stories not told in the anime in which Ash had Pidgeot with him as if he had kept it. Can't remember any specific battles but I do remember one part where team rocket leaves Ash tied to a rock and he fumbles pidgeots Pokeball off his belt and Pidgeot frees him. I think they help someone with an air balloon race and Pidgeot helps pull it.

It would be cool to see it again. Just about everything he has had has made a comeback in some form or fashion with few exceptions. I think the reason as to why they've gone out of their way to steer clear of Pidgeot is because it has been superseded by new Pokemon in Ash's roster. Not saying they are better than Pidgeot but they do loan themselves to more situations than what Pidgeot does at this day and age. Anyway. Hope he does make an appearance soon. Even as a character of the day.

Even though Pidgeot does not have a strong battling record it was still an important an iconic member of the original 6 and the utility support it offered Ash outside of battle was invaluable. It's a bit comparable to Misty's Starmie or an HM slave in the games.

Pidgeotto is one of the few of Ash original Pokemon that is super loyal to Ash. I don't think I ever seen an episode where Pidgeotto ever back out from Ash or even attack Ash. When Ash went to fought Sabrina at Saffron City, all his four other Pokemon (Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle) all refuse or are to afraid to go into battle but when he choose Pidgeotto, Pidgeotto instantly jump in first. Thus he lose Pidgeotto did try to fight for Ash. When Ash was trapped in an ice cave, all six Pokemon appeared to comfort him, Pidgeotto was the only one that held Ash the most.

There needs to be an episode where Ash and Goh are in the veridian forest, and Ash gets to see his pidgeot again. and they encounter the fearrow, and goh should use his pidgeotto to fight fearrow, evolve into pidgeot, and beat fearrow, goh tries to catch it and fails and fearrow gets away. Goh's pidgeot takes ash's pidgeot's place as the leader of the flock, and Ash offer's to have pidgeot come back to his team and it accepts. the upside is that goh will still have a pidgey left at the lab.
