Rhodesia was in the tropics. Also landlocked on all sides, nearest coastline 850miles from memory and Bulawayo was 1500m above sea level. None of the six minis I had there showed any signs of rust. It was classic car heaven.

Interesting exhaust. 2:41 now rushes down to the man cave to check the 1959/60/61 rear subframe i have!

Another nice video, I’ve spent many a time struggling with those forward facing subframe bolts with the captive nuts spinning, definitely can tell it’s not from our climate!😂

Yes they normally give you a false sense of security - lovely and free, then tight, snap!

Its just like a video version of a “Practical Classic” magazine type follow the refurb from the 1980’s. Which I remember so fondly and well

Does the battery cable stay in? Or is does it go over the top?

It just ties up between the floor and subframe.

The one piece exhaust was pretty standard for early cars? Mine was the same
@MEDEngineeringTechVideos3 жыл бұрын
Possibly yes, but maybe not in stainless?
@willgrime3 жыл бұрын
One-piece was absolutely standard until at least 1980. Mild steel was usual, but you could get stainless steel if you were prepared to order from a magazine advert and send off a cheque. No email or PayPal in those days... you could gat a big bore system too, or a fancy box and tailpipe, but not from a dealer, only the ad-and-cheque route
